Just got a complete hatch with the spoiler. The spoiler is worn and weather beaten. What is the best way to clean it and make it look nice? The spoiler is a factory 944 spoiler which feels like a rubbery foam. _________________ 1982 Porsche N/A |

If the rubber is broken down, you can't do anything to save it as the foam will just disintegrate.
Remove the spoiler and buy one off a newer 944 (they were available up to 91 I believe)
AIR and others make aftermarket fiberglass spoilers that would be another option. Less weight and stronger.
If you're handy with composites and can do lost foam casting, then you could rebuild the spoiler out of composite and melt the old material out of it. Lots of work and it is nasty and you'd really want to use a vacuum to create a strong and good looking surface. _________________ Stefan

Agree with above...if you want to make what you have look at least a little nicer, my favorite dressing for the spoiler and other similar plasticy-rubbery stuff (like the mirror trim, mudflaps, bumperettes, etc.) is Mother's Back-to-Black. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

| If your spoiler is salvageable, Armorall does a good job of maintaining it and making it look nice. It's nice to keep it original if you can - that reminds me, I owe my '82 924 a treatment before fall. - Peter |
