Okay, i'm finally getting around to this engine situation once and for all. The shop that i wanted to do the swap is taking too long to call me so i'm going to do it myself. This will be my first time doing major work on the car and i want to know what im getting myself into, parts and tools im going to need etc. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Oh too easy. You'll need an engine crane, a ratchet, 10, 13, 15, 17, 18 and 19mm sockets and a case of beer.
