Hey , this would be one of my last posts. My 924na was rear ended by a ford xr6 turbo and fixing it would cost tons of money and time. So i got some pics from earlier that day before it happened. My new car is going to be a ford 1987 KE laser with a Mazda familia GTR engine.
Insurance would be ringing me on Monday with a offer for my car. Is there anyway i can "make" the car seem more to the insurance company?

This forum has helped me so much and i sure will miss all the good help!

Find a big "Turbo" decal and slap it on the hatch. Turbo cars are worth more, right? Insurance guy might not be able to find it under the hood.

What you should do is search the local classifieds and find 924s that are similar to yours and priced high. Print these off and show them to your insurance agent.

Insurance is obviously going to give you as little as possible. Your job is to provide them proof that the car is worth what you want out of the car!

So you get hit by a Ford in your Porsche, so you go buy a Ford. Kind of ironic.

I can take pics of my car , but it just makes me sad my car actually looks way better then the xr6. I was completely stopped with my brakes pressed in as hard as i could since i had to make an emergency stop too (lucky my clutch was pushed in at that stage) , and the xr6 owner reckon he hit me at about 70km/h. The xr6 had broken belts , smashed in radiator and the funny thing is... his airbags didn't deploy... I don't got any pics of his car but il ask the guy for some

Sounds like a good deal, if your insurance company was pricing from redbook you would be looking at $2000 to $4500 Max.

I had a 88 KE Laser TX3 Turbo 4wd when they came out (showing my age) and it was a blast.

Ok, I work for insurance companies, detecting and investigating fraud/stolen cars etc. on a freelance basis.

Your insurance will definetly offer you far less than the car is worth. You have 2 options in order to obtain a good offer. First after seeing how much they offer you , and if its too low, you can either ask the insurance company to fix/ repair the car no matter what it costs them or else ask the insurance to find you a replacement vehicle in the same condition as yours. Both would cost the insurance a lot of time and money, since these 2 options would cost the insurance company expenses which in your eyes do not exist eg. surveyor fees, part runners / looking for an acceptable car ( which you might refuse anyway)

These have always made the insurance companies offer a bit higher offer.

Just a few hints from a fellow member.

I toke the offer straight away , since i didn't expect to be getting that much back

So far i dont know if im selling/wrecking it. I wasn't insured at all , which was stupid on my part to start with , but the other guy was insured at Shannons (alot of the panel beaters didnt even want to look at the car , because of Shannons , maybe bad experience?

If i can get the following parts for a good price il fix the car

Rear bumper
Exhaust manifold - looks like it bent a little bit
Left side tail light
I think there's a bracket which bolts into the gbox at the back holding the exhaust up, i haven't really spent much time under there , but that's completely broken off

The exhaust was totally ripped off but i still got it , so new welds in between the silencers and it will be good to go again
