Being a euro turbo you have 170hp? That would make it 85 more hp _________________ 81 924 N/A

Yeah, people sometimes miss that the Yank cars are about 10% less powerful than the Euro cars (the '77 closer to 25% less powerful ). I'm guilty of it myself, in fact. As I read the title, I was thinking, "110mph? That thing should do 125mph all day long!" Then I remembered it's a Yank car _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

Just 141 before I bottled it. Getting 130 is no problem but 140+ and the car feels like the flux capacitor might give out!! _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

I used to race a 2 liter normally aspirated 911 Targa w/cutoff windshield, airdam to the ground, duck tail rear and 203 dyno horsepower. It has a lot less frontal area than a 924 or 911 coupe and it showed 155 MPH on radar at the Charlotte oval. It would have needed a lot more HP to go faster. My present 911E coupe racer will only do about 135 (speedometer reading) but has about 25 less HP.
Speed = money. How fast do you want to go?

my 924 turbo maxed out the 944NA gearbox very fast...so 130 was close to its max speed(~6000RPM) and it got there FAST. i approximated its power around 180-190hp
now i'm using a 944S2 gearbox...i'm curious how hight will it go. It now has a K27 and it should produce about 230-240HP...so i think it will do 150. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

I've hit an indicated 143mph in my 924 Turbo. But I know now the speedo was optimistic and I was likely somewhere closer to 135mph...
Don't trust the speedo's in these cars. You can claim they're accurate all you want. But get a decent GPS, measure your real speed and I guarantee you that your speedo will be wrong. And by quite a surprising amount. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I'm quoting a gps speed. But I have also re calibrated my speedo to match the gps unit. It's now spot on whether it's 30 or 130. Before I re calibrated the indicated speed was 150 on the speedo and 141 on the gps. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

Cool. Sorry if it seemed I was picking on you in particular, I certainly wasn't. Was just trying to make a general point. The speedo's are inaccurate unless, like yours, they are recalibrated. In my limited experience, they tend to read high, much like yours (mine certainly did). And like yours, it seems they tend to read high by a substantial percentage when getting up around top speed...
(As in, they make you think you're going a lot faster than you really are )
EDIT: And as a side note, like Carrera RSR, I backed off before it felt like it'd topped out. I swear, hand on heart, it felt like it'd redline in top gear... easily _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

All this chat about speed aand I got beat in a drag race by a mid 90's Maxima! He only got me by a fender and the whole thing started when I made him bad around a couple of semi-tight turns. I took the turns at about 80 then slowed down to 60-65 then he wanted to race. LoL _________________ 81 924 N/A

Ive got 195km/h out of my 82 N/A 924 . thats around 121mph if my calculations are correct. It toke about 4 min (give or take 2 min or so ) to hit that mark on a long road. Needed to back off since i saw my temp needle moving to 1/2 _________________ 924 1982 N/A
