I've been having funky electrical issues so I desided to take to fuse panel out and look at all the connections. After cleaning a few of the pins and reinstalling everything back where it was the car no longer runs! Damn _________________ 81 924 N/A

I have fuel and I have fire on all cylinders. The plugs were a little sooty but it should still run. No idea what's wrong I drove it to work no problems. _________________ 81 924 N/A

I don't think its electrical because I pulled the spark plugs and check and they are all firing and the carbs are flowing gas... I'm clueless... I even checked the timing set the timing mark and the rotor was pointed the right way... _________________ 81 924 N/A

Not sure specifically what you mean the carbs are flowing gas. Is the fuel pump pressurizing the delivery system? _________________ "Never get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right. Unless you are goin' all the way."

Prior to cleaning your fuse box did you have any starting or running problems? _________________ '95 BMW 318i/5 ..."Pearl"

If you are cranking the engine and pumping the accelerator to get gas in from the Webers, and the car shall not start and the plugs are dry, then my guess is your fuel pump is not on. If they are wet, and you have spark, the car may be flooded. _________________ "Never get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right. Unless you are goin' all the way."

It'll kinda run if I keep cranking on it and floor the gas but as soon as I remove my foot from the gas its done. Its been making a ticking sounded I just assumed it was lifters needing adjusting and laziness kept me from doing it... the jets could be clogged up... I know gas is fill the bowls because it took the carbs top plate off with the pump running... I guess I could clean the bastards out _________________ 81 924 N/A

Or that.
If the plugs are dry after a long cranking and no signs of firing, you most likely are not getting fuel.
On most if not all 924's, the fuel pump relay shall not send power to the fuel pump unless the relay receives a pulse signal from the ignition (usually green wire.) You can jumper certain pins on the panel after taking out the fuel pump relay if necessary. I forget the pin numbers but I am pretty sure that info is here on the board if you search. _________________ "Never get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right. Unless you are goin' all the way."

Just a note...a switched fuel pump is dangerous, or at least more dangerous than using the relay. If the engine stops running the fuel pump turns of normally. If you flip the car or have a bad accident and lines are torn or damagedd, fuel continues to be pumped in your set up, unless you are able to and remember to turn if off. You could end up pumping fuel onto a fire. _________________ "Never get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right. Unless you are goin' all the way."

Yeah this car needs a complete rewire... I'm still not sure if its a wiring, carb or mechanical problem... I'm considering ditching this car and buying something different. I could buy a 951 for the price its going to take to get this thing in a general good order. I love to drive it but looking it over today its going to be pricy... _________________ 81 924 N/A

After sleeping on it I bet the jets are partially or full blocked, the gas in the bowls was pretty cloudy _________________ 81 924 N/A
