Is it possible, smart, advisable to take apart the throttle housing, for example to get the exterior bead blasted?

I can remove the one nut on the butterfly axis, but the rest remains frozen together.

Thanks and cheers,
Duncan

Yes, it's possible, and not that big of a deal. I had to do some disassembly and re-assembly when I converted my late NA throttle body over to the big bore Audi unit. I've also torn down and rebuilt a couple of the S2 931 units.

I would recommend taking good photos of everything before you disassemble it, however, so that you have a good reference for putting it back together, especially with respect to how the springs and levers are supposed to be arranged.

How did you remove the linkage from the axis and how did you remove the actual butterflies from the axis?

The linkage is seriously stuck. I used moderate force without success on a RHD unit I bought erroneously, but for my own I have to be more careful.

I am very curious...

Cheers,
Duncan
