Is it possible to replace the small (chicane shaped)hose between waterpump and thermostat housing without taking either off?
And if not, which of the two should I take off? I would need to know for ordering a new gasket.
I tried the search but could not find it.
Cheers,

If you're replacing it, then just carefully cut it after removing the clamps and draining the coolant level.
You can get a new one in there, but it will be a bit of a wrestle to do so along with the clamps. If the clamps can be opened and installed after the hose is in place, life will be much easier. _________________ Stefan

To answer my own question:
Yes you can replace this hose without removing the thermostat . _________________ 1983 NA Alpineweiss since 2001

I've found the best stuff for new hose installation is KY Jelly. It also has excellent uses for whatever is left in the tube. _________________ '78 924 NA with Collector plate

+1 to that!
If I have to fight a hose to put it on, I tend to use some hairspray. When it's wet, it works like a lubricant, and when it dries, it gets tacky enough to keep it from sliding around (which is excellent if you're slipping a hose on a pipe that isn't flared) but not so much that it won't come off when you need to replace it. that's an old bike I use when I need to put grips on mountain bikes and BMX's. _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |
