we finished mid 60's of 80+ end of first day we had 5th fastest lap time .6 seconds from the fastest.
ok here's how it went
alternator crapped out 20 min before race- we had a spare- just made the race start.
fans were blowing fuses- we determined one was bad cut wires to it.
back of car on fire- got towed off. determined that the gas tank vent was not venting under the fill pipe cover- pressurized to 10+psi- drilled it out.
white smoke = black flag. determined that pressured gas tank = evap system blew off vacuum lines= regulators full blast = gas everywhere in motor almost hydro-locked. re did vacuum lines and run extra gas out and ran strong for a while.
was overheating bad after bleeding cooling system determined thermostat was stuck closed. wow what a dumb design that snap ring. we had to smash it open to get back out on the track.
rear ended someone had to take off hood. [sorry guys]
lost muffler that we rigged on since we failed tech in morning- ultimately led to black flag at 8:30 pm- re did exhaust that night.
sunday dead battery - field wire drained it [we think]
ran great 2 hours then air meter bolt got sucked into motor and destroyed piston #4- dropped oil pan, front cross member- cut big end of rod off and reinstalled and got motor started again- got most heroic fix award.
had such a good time to say the least.
here is the pic's

Nice!
Great story....you'll remember this event for the rest of your life.
We want to do it again, but just haven't gotten motivated to fix our Volvo yet.

260 laps
2:06 best lap time
3 first time drivers
1 first time road course drvr
1 seasoned road course drvr
All first time Lemons
Finished in the top third
We all had a blast
Rookies did well
But it was intimidating
No major issue
Cut a radiator hose with fan blade
But we had a 944 as a donor backup
Looking forward to a few de events to get seat time
And a chump cars event in November
Flat out racing
Mike

If you're real crafty, you can move the front suspension a-arm mounts up and out, if you can do it safely (read: well), like the D Prod factory cars, and therefore also widen track and gain a bit more camber too. |
does anybody have a pic of this mod?

This is the in-car of the number 924 Porsche Monkeys with a 84 Porsche 924S NA 2.5L. This is the start and first 45 min of racing. I am driving. We had so much fun, finished 19th of 55 [ish], and had the 4th fastest lap of the weekend. 100*+ temps on Saturday and close to it on Sunday. I was not used to the new handling of the car at first but took it up a notch. Judge Phil said I had 4 tires off, but I think they confused me with the crappy brown Civic that popped a head gasket and was off on the grass- As the video shows I had no tires off the track which was the first black flag. The second black flag came from the crappy #28 car, who rear ended me. Again, not my fault. Chasing classic cars was taping an episode, because Wayne Carini was a celebrity judge and was out the first hour driving the #111 yellow Donk. I may, and most likely will, be seen whining to judge Phil how neither penalties were my fault.

I saw your vid on your rottie in her swimming pool, too funny. We have a 105 lb female! She's 7 years old and is a great dog. We have a 15lb terrier mix, they're inseparable. _________________ '83 944 Track car.
