Looking for new shocks and the KYB outlet-Just suspension has 363014 front struts for a 77NA for $39. Everyone else sells them for $$55 to $65. Am I missing something here? _________________ Mike

I got KYB shocks, was a bit worried about how cheaply priced they are compared to others, not top quality, I guess.
Depends on what kind of driving you do, mine seem to do better than the 29 year old originals _________________ I got nothin'

I have KYB and they give a soft ride which is fine for my old back.
Great for street use. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Got KBYs for the Audi A6... was a bad move... they only lasted maybe 10-20k miles compared to the 230k miles on the original fronts. Considering the Audi's were $30-40 more it would have been worth spending the extra. _________________ 1980 Turbo

i've put KYB and Gabriel in my 924 and my MK3 golf...and the first week they felt a bit better than the old ones which were worn..and i was under the impression that the old ones were not that bad....but withing 1-2 months the new shocks wore out very quickly and soon they became worse than the old ones. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

I've got a set of new KYB's for the front and a set of Monroes for the rear when I bought my 931 but I'm not planning on using them if somebody wants to make me an offer. Still in the boxes. _________________ 1981 924 Turbo |

KYBs are popular for some of the other tuner cars. I guess it depends on which model you buy. Is there a 'GR2' or 'G2 adjustable' model for the 924? _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

KYBs are popular with all makes of cars with owners who are cheap, and don't know any better.
They fail within a year of installation regardless of the make of automobile.
If you're going to buy KYBs, you might as well put a match to the money and leave your exisiting struts and shocks on the car. That way at least you'll save the cost of the wheel alignment. |

GR-2's are their OEM equivalent line. It is not a performance line. they are cheap and they don't last very long.
The only decent KYB's are their Gas-A-Just (which oddly aren't adjustable) and the AGX which are adjustable.
They still have a limited lifetime (granted they are a wear item, but they should perhaps last longer) _________________ Stefan

It's a Porsche... why put KBYs on for.
I wouldn't buy them again EVER! _________________ 1980 Turbo

I had KYB adjustables on my '86 Trans Am and they were great. The cheaper stock replacements I can see why they've got a bad reputation, but the adjustables were fine for street use with the occasional track outing. _________________ '80 924 Turbo - SOLD!

I installed KYB Gas-A-Just on SONIC in 2005. They are still on the car after 5 years of daily driving use by two teenagers and now my dad. I checked their function when I did the five lug conversion earlier this summer, and they were fine. I have 8" wide D90s in the back, I have not rolled the rear fenders, and I have no trouble with rubbing that blown shocks would certainly cause. SONIC has never been tracked, and the daily driving he's experienced has been relatively short distance (carrying teens to school and typical teenager jobs). I'm not saying the KYB's would withstand my style of driving, nor 60 mile round trips to downtown Detroit. But to be frank, I would buy them again for the purpose I used them originally. They may not be for everybody, but for certain situations, they are a cost effective alternative. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made
