Anybody have any feedback on the Summit Racing poly pro racing seats?
There really cheap but will they meet ITB requirements. Just trying to price out my build a little. _________________ 1977 924 2.0L N/A "The Track Car" (soon!)

Yeah... it's very much a personal fit kind of thing, some really don't care for the side bolsters. I have the Economy seat, but the Road Racer seat has much lower sides, can be more comfortable for many... _________________ Vaughan Scott

I have a set of polys ... there light as feathers though the
comfort zone is a kin to sitting in a cave. The Kirkeys Im
sure meet the requirements. The polys I dont know. Being
an owner of polys Id check the kirkeys comfort zone and go
from there. Being kind of on a fence here bout it, Ill step off
lowest price is with the polys ...& thats bout it..besides
maybe having work done on the covers to stuff more padding
on the backside. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

For a piece of safety equipment, I wouldn't scrimp on cheap seats. Go for something FIA certified with a helmet halo and where a HANS device. _________________ Stefan

Halo seats aren't always a good thing. Some drivers, seating positions, and cars, they can end up blocking your egress.
HANS isn't the only game in town, nor necessarily the best.
Seats are not "certified" except by the FIA. FIA seats are not required by SCCA. If they are FIA, you won't have to run a back brace... until they're 5 years old, then you will anyway.
Unless you can afford to drop $2k on a Racetech seat or the like (Lajoie is another good name), then it's all a bit of a joke... just make sure it's mounted securely. _________________ Vaughan Scott

Sorry, I meant wear a HANS and I didn't mean to imply the product by that name, just a head and neck support system. HANS isn't the only game in town and there are others that provide some benefits over the other.
I agree that Halo seats aren't for everybody or every situation, but I would still look at them. Good point about the egress though, also important to pay attention to (and practice)
If a halo seat won't work, then a way to protect your helmeted head from moving too far sideways is important to consider when building the car along with egress.
You're also right, that the FIA doesn't "certify" seats so much as they "approve" seats and unless used with the matching brackets they no longer meet the FIA specifications.
Some articles to help (not the end all be all, but a good primer on the subject):
