Hey everyone
I wanted to know if anyone knows what type of adhesive was used where the fender is screwed onto the body along the top edge ? - it is gray in color and did not seem like the same seam sealer used elsewhere -(epoxy maybe?)
I am in the process of repairing some rust and wanted to clean things up before coating it up with a rust sealer from Eastwood

funny how you start to work on a suspension and end up repairing the entire front end - fenders and all

any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks
Sean

Funny you should mention starting work on the mechanicals and wandering off to do body and rust prevention, whilst poking round under mine yesterday I was shocked on how much "Loose" under-seal and rust there was on a car supposedly Galvanised? I ended up covered in dust and lumps of underseal, so it was out with the Waxoyl gun and liberal coats of waxoyl sprayed everywhere, but for some reason the mask I was wearing leaked and I ended with a waxed nose, not pleasant. Then noticed the time, rushed inside to get my clothes into the washer before the Wife arrived from work, didn't work as she was suspicious why all of a sudden I was using the washer oops.

Back to your "Epoxy" I should imagine that is exactly what it is. And I wish you well, horrible sticky stuff.

thanks

yeah I knew there was probably some corrosion that I would deal with come winter, but I saw what looked like a bulge in the lower fender and tapped it with a rubber mallet - - when I heard that crunchy cereal sound I knew I was in a little trouble.
I too have been covered in that white goop that they covered the inner wheel well area with only to be continually disappointed with numerous starts of rust.
So far I am planning to patch any holes, coat with rust encapsulator and chassis black from Eastwood. I have already sprayed inside inner fender with a inner fame coating that is supposed to seal and protect - hopefully that helps as well.

thanks
Sean

On the fender - I'm sure that's seam sealer, and not an epoxy that's used between the fender and body (upper engine compartment seam). It's available in different forms, but caulk gun style is best for re-doing that seam.
