OK so im already gone for a year, but its eating at me.

My car is burning oil.. i found where its coming from. The number 4 (back cyalnder ) intake valve is leaking oil into the combustion chamber.

I figure that im going to have to pull it to repair.. obviously.
Here is my question...

Do you think its the valve stem seals or guides that went? I mean is there one that normally goes out on these engines? Let me know so i can start preping my orders so when i get home i can tear into it quickly.

All opinions welcome.. i have pretty thick skin

Thats what im thinking too. but the problem right away will be getting the space to do the work properly. If its the seals i can do those quickly and have the car back together the same day and still have time to work on other things.

My problem is when i get back from overseas ill have to find a place so i can really work on the car and tear it apart like i want to but until then my work space is limited and want to be able to enjoy my car while im looking around.

It runs great, just buring that oil is driving my nuts. I hate seeing the smoke even though i know what its from and where.

You mentioned being overseas. That means you possibly have access to a military base. Most military bases have some sort of auto craft shop where you can use their facilities for a small fee.

Ok so just had a chat with the Fiance

She wants me to get this car fixed ASAP when i get home so i want to start shopping around for parts.

Right off i need to fic this oil leak. I want to rebuild the head since the head itself seems to be ok from what i can tell. But im wanting to know a gerneral price (doing this myself) how much this will run me.

I also need a link or few to differetn places that have the parts i will need to over haul the head.

The reason im wanting to know price is im looking at just pulling the motor completly and changing the bay area to fit an LS1 Conversion into it. Its still just an idea for now but im looking more into racing this car to be honest but i also want to get it running for the time being to drive around.

Let me know what you guys know from experiance and those links
I want to get parts ordered in a few months so they are home and waiting when i get home.

Thanks guys

If you are going to keep the 2.5L lump, the engine parts are pretty easy to acquire. OEM Porsche parts are great, but a bit pricey.

Lindsey Racing has a nice selection or high performance parts, as they support the 944Spec and 944Cup racers.

EBS Racing has parts for the 2.5l engine also.

Here's a really complete list of Porsche engine parts suppliers:

Hope this helps!

Thanks Brad!!

Yeah i plan to keep the lump for a little while. The fiance doesnt want me racing this car but i want to and probably will.

The LS1 conversion will probably come later down the road once i want to step up to a higher level in club racing... but might have another car by then so who knows.

All those links im sure will help and really get me to were i need to go to get parts.

Still have to finish the wire harness for that door to when i get back. LOL
