Are the injectors on a standard S2 electronic or mechanical?
I'm thinking about going standalone. I'm suspecting the standard ones can't be used?
I've read something about injectors from a type of Mondeo? I'm no expert on the matter, so any extra help is appreciated.

My car stands in a garage @ 20k for now. (Phew, an excuse to cover up the fact that i am indeed a Noob! Seriously, i wouldn't have thought about actually looking @ the damn things if the car was standing here )
Ok, second question: Can i simply screw other injectors in the original locations or do i have to modify the manifold? Which injectors would be a good choice? |

Rather than rehash things, do a quick search on this board for MegaSquirt. Specifically there was at least one post in the How-To section.
However, here's a summary:
You need to machine your stock injector inserts to hold the O-rings for your injectors (I'm machining my head, to eliminate the inserts, but then I'm a little weird)
Find or build a fuel rail to fit the injector spacing in the cylinder head, fit the injectors you're using and fit under the throttle body. This will take some effort to do.
Fuel lines will need to be adapted.
Ignition will need to be adapted for use with the EFI system you choose (or another system adapted to work in place of the stock solution)
Throttle body needs a throttle position sensor added.
Air intake needs to be changed to eliminate the CIS system.
Sensors installed in the engine bay and properly wired
Electrical system modified to for the EFI system
You'll need to tune the fuel and ignition systems, which is a lengthy process, made quicker by use of a Wideband Oxygen sensor and eventually a dyno-tuning session or two. _________________ Stefan

iff you want to change the injection to an EFI this can be done by using the complete injection of a mondeo 1.8 but keep in mind its a lot of work iff you dont know much about this dot start with this |

Want is your reasoning for changing the injectors? Thanks for the info. I was already planning on checking that forum .
About those Mondeo injectors, i was wondering if they give enough fuel for a 931 because they were only mentioned in N/A conversions?
I know i don't know that mutch about the subject, but i'm eager to learn. It's actually the reason why i bought the 924 in the first place. |

i sugest you can put the efi in keep everything of the mondeo
after you installed it dont try to drive the car but bring it to a spesialist tuner
they have all the tools to messure the flow and change it by using diferent injectors and tune the engine computer
never just install something else cous it can cous a lot of damage to your engine /pistons
there is a company in holland that can do these things but i forgot the name meet with these peaple first befoe you start any work |

I've been going through some older threads and i think i've found a helpful and experienced crowd in here.
I've owned some 924's already, but i always was a bit scared to mess with a running car.
I've finally decided to give it a try and just see what happens, hoping my wallet will survive somewhat .  |

Is it really that dangerous to try tuning the engine yourself? As far as i know (i don't know mutch) the two biggest dangers are knock and running lean.
I was thinking it was doable with a lambda/MAF sensor(to control A/F ratio or do i need something else?) and a ping-detection sensor, starting with a rich running engine and conservative timing?
Feel free to correct me on this!  |
