|
|
Hi guys, I was just wondering if a 924S engine can be modified as a 2lit engine can. It seems that the 2Lit can take some mods like turbo, ecu, efi, intercooler etc. Can the 2.5Lit S model be updated the same way. What difference is there between the 2 models in general, like brakes, gearbox, diff, cluthc etc? _________________ 2 PORSCHE 924 (CURRENT PROJECTS)

Give it a major tune up, eliminating all vacuum leaks. Then chip it, then make it handle and look as good as possible.
In short, the 2.5 NA motor doesn't have a lot of effective bolt-ons. _________________ Toofah King Bad

With the right mods, you can make the car a BIT faster, but not significantly, without spending LOTS of money.
Check out the Lindsey Racing website, and the 944 Spec and 944 Cup websites also.
Most of the performance upgrades to make a really fast car are only applicable to the 944 Turbo - and that is a big difference from a 924S/944.
A lightweight, slightly upgraded 924S track car can keep up with a stock '06 Cayman on a pretty windy track like Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point. But on a straight section of track, no contest... Ask me how I know.
Of course, with an LS-1 conversion.... you might have an edge. _________________ 1987 Porsche 924S - track toy

Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere. |

"putting a turbo in it" is not a very cost effective option. You can buy a nice 951 for less than it costs to properly turbo charge a 924S.
"but I can get my S up to 180, even 190" - yeah, right... like your speedo even goes that high.
120-130 mph is about the max you'll see out of one of these cars, and at that is going downhill, with a tailwind, and at that speed your likely to experience liftoff. _________________ 1987 Porsche 924S - track toy

I see we have another rocket scientist/brain surgeon/Porsche expert that has joined our little group...how quaint.
And he uses good grammar and can spell too! Bonus! _________________ 1987 Porsche 924S - track toy

there have been several successful documented supercharger installs on the 944 platform but here is what i find most entertaining:
