My Lancer is on-road, so I've got wheels. (If some rego turns up for the '924, I'll obviously bring that instead.)
I'm most available Saturday afternoon or perhaps Sunday morning. Would be driving from the Shire.

So in Australia`s largest city no one has a 924 on the road. These cars really are rare.
No offense Wade, even a hot Lancer isn`t as much fun as a stock NA 924. Think we`ll postpone this for a short while at least till you have rego and Pocketscience has a battery.
Presume you mean Sutherland Shire? Usually just fly down the Hume but no probs meeting up somewhere near the Princess Hwy. Then to the Gong via that new bit of magic looking roadway/bridge and then cross back to the Hume on the Moss Vale road.
Definitely looks like a "cool drives" candidate.

Cheers Oz Owen, don`t think I`ll have time to detour to Canberra this time but will take you up on a windy road drive another time for sure. Yep, there`s lots of windy roads around there. |

I would be keen, I would go in the '44 though. Only problem is my '24 is a bit bent and im a bit busy trying to fix it!
Cheers

No offense taken. I've had my Lancer for 8 years so I know it well. And I did 1100 miles in my '924 when I bought it so I got to know that, too! (Drove it from Adelaide to Sydney via Gippsland. Some great stretches of the Princes Highway near Lakes Entrance.)

That would be the Sea Cliff Bridge at Coalcliff. It looks spectacular, but it's short (about 1.2km) and often has lots of traffic as it's a vital road. It's also just 2 lanes and 60 km/h. Much much more fun can be had doing the National Park from Otford to Audley 9pm Sunday night.

Forgot you also had the 944 cab till I looked at your sig. Nice cars. Had a meet up & drive in Melbourne 2 years ago and had a 944 S2 pull away out front of our 924s and kept pace with a 951. We were all amazed that I was up their arse in the corners though. But nowhere as amazed as all the cyclists in a winding 60 zone when Porsches went past at double that.
Anyway now that I have some boost would like to compare again. Will be handicapping myself with 4 wheels & tyres, 2 trannies, and more crap in the back. Maybe another time or happy for a drive anyway. What part of Sydney are you at? Will be northern beaches area mainly and seeing other board members on north shore. Would probably be south sometime Sunday and could do a run through the Royal National Park or whatever.

Haven`t driven it yet so don`t know. Was of the impression it went from Bulli to the National Park. My wishful thinking had me optimistically expecting a 100 Km/H road. So realistically you`d be lucky to get over 40 on a Sunday. Same in the National Park too. Its BS.
BTW, DYK that with SA rego you are entitled to drive immediately after its paid, without having to wait for the sticker in the mail or even on the windscreen. Leaving an expired label on is an offense but driving with none is legal. Obviously a SA regod car is entitled to drive in any state/territory in Oz. Can even check status online at http://www.ezyreg.sa.gov.au/ezyreg/ Enter secure site/vehicle status enquiry/enter plate & VIN #. |

Long time lurker, appropriate time for a first post!
If you guys decide to do some sort of cruise down Wollongong way, I'll happily bring my 944 to the party!
No 924 but I'd really like to meet some owners for a chat - been considering one as a second car for a while now. |

Great to catch up with Roger and Gavin yesterday. Shame it was a bit late in the day so I couldn't get a better look over Roger's car. What I saw was totally awesome.
I think we set a new record for how much you can stuff into the back of a 924: two wheels, two transaxles, a spoiler and a heap of soft stuff. The rabbit had to be moved to the front but s/he didn't take up much space.
When the Lotus is legal I'll have to take it for a run north and with luck see Roger again. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)
