Just wanted to introduce myself, as I see I'll be spending many hours wandering around this site.

I acquired my 1988 924 S this week as a gracious gift, from my husband, for our 10 year anniversary. Not to get all mushy, yeah I'm a chick, there's a great story to behind the "gift" that will be great to tell our grandchildren.

My husbands pride and joy is, well I should say was, a Honda CBR F3. That was until last November when a car decided to come to a dead stop just yards away from his path of travel. After months of therapy, and more surgeries to come, he wants another bike. My response was "Sure you can have another bike, when I've got a Porsche in the driveway with my name on it."

Yup, that's my name on the title........

We're going to start restoring it as we have time. She runs excellent and only has 85k miles. The interior is great, minus the typical cracked dash and worn front seats. Exterior is good, although someone curb-checked the passenger side, the bottom panel under the door is now cupped in, any suggestions on the best way to fix it?

Thanks for letting me join, and I hope to, at some point, give input and not just ask for advice. And I am pretty car savvy, don't be afraid to throw auto jargon out there, if I don't know, I'll ask.

Hi Eska,

As one of the official 2.5 timing belt alarmists on the Board, let me be the first to ask: what is the timing belt history of the car? If nobody is certain, it is fairly important to take care of before driving your new baby. Many 2.5 motors have been lost this way.

And yes, let's see some pics!

Thanks for the warm welcome, and sorry for the late response. I'll get pics up soon, it's been a crazy week for me.

New timing belt was done just a few months ago along with a few other basic maintenance stuff. Putting new brakes on it this week, I've started a list of parts I'd like the have replaced soon. Performance and function first, cosmetic last....although having to hold the back hatch up and pile in shopping bags is getting a bit tedious.....gotta get my hands on some back hatch struts.

Welcome Eska.
Regarding the struts......if they prove to be expensive....then you do have the option of getting them rebuilt for a reasonable cost. I know up here in Vancouver, Canada there is a business that rebuilds them and I suspect there must be quite a few places in the US that also offers this service. Just something to keep in mind.

Once again welcome to the forum.......this place needs more ladies.
