|
|
For some reason fuel filter for a 931 is hard to buy/find. I mean if you go to a local parts shop and ask for it, they say they only have fuel filter for 924 N/A and that their catalogs don't even have it (931 filter) as an option. Now I live in small town so I guess you could find it easily if live in a big city with better shops. I find it frustrating to order such a basic service item from abroad. But today I got lucky.
There was a very helpful and nice bloke selling in the shop today and he found out after doing 15 minutes of researching that there is actually an other option for Mahle filter and it is Fram G3831. You just have to remove the fittings from your old filter and re-use them with Fram filter. Outer diameter is the same as is lenght too. I hope this information helps someone.

I've used that Fram filter on at least one of my 931s with no issues. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Good to know. Fram is a bit cheaper too. _________________ Mikko

That is a good catch. A quick search showed that listed for a late 70s 320i. . .also running CIS. _________________ Toofah King Bad

| Mahle Kl-8 is the correct number for our 931's,it even has the correct fittings[the long part # starts with 931] I figure the supply is ready to dry up on those shortly,so every time I change the fuel filter,I always save the fittings.Thanks for the research!!!! Warm Regards;Chris |

Question (Sorta related to this topic): Is it possible to switch to a more universal fuel filter when running EFI opposed to CIS? _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

@Flosho
Absolutely, why not?! If you're looking at the universal inline type filters, just be aware of the micron filtering offered. There are different filtering rates available, and you want one that filters small enough but doesn't restrict flow too much. I've been eyeballing the Aeromotive 10 micron for post-tank/pre-pump, and the 100 micron for post-pump. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Knowing how much Fram oil filters suck, I wouldn't place any other product of theirs on any of my cars. _________________ --Alex--

I once bought some 931 fuel filters from a 928 site for $5.00 each. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

Can't say I've ever done that!
My point is I believe a 931 and some 928s share the same filter. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

924 1981-82 928 110 147 05 Fuel filter Bosch 61967 Note the discrepancy. Bosch indicates the same filter for 81-82 924 and 80-82 Turbo.
924T 1980 931 110 149 00 Fuel filter up to VIN 93 A0150418 Bosch 71020 see applications above.
924T 1980-82 931 110 149 01 Fuel filter Bosch 61967, Purolator # GF-145R Again, we'll ignore the Rolls and Bentleys...Porsche 911 81-83, 86-89, 91-94
