|
|
Hey guys,
Basically I need to find a working impulse sender (flywheel sensor) for my car or I'll be doomed to take the bus forever
The part 931.606.021.00 is NLA and could only find them on two sites: auto atlanta & german dismantlers.
However these guys want $400 for it
If anyone has one lying around or a wrecked 81 turbo that might have one please let me know and i'll be willing to pay at least $200 for one.
Cheers

You can probably buy an entire parts car for the $400 here in the U.S. These things are becoming pretty hard to come across. This would be the ideal item for a group buy/alternative part. _________________ "Never get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right. Unless you are goin' all the way."

I just received a non-functional crank sensor from 924RACR in a bin of parts I'll be going through and posting for sale later. I also have a good spare unit on the shelf that is NOT for sale (sorry, have to have a backup for my S2!). The plan is to hopefully identify between these two units a way to find or reproduce a replacement. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

When will you guys learn. Auto Atlanta keeps screwing you guys but yet you want to buy from them. Sometimes I think you deserve to get beat.

Dan, my guess is the mechanical configuration/packaging is the challenge rather than electrical aspects. _________________ "Never get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right. Unless you are goin' all the way."

That's my thought as well. It can't be that hard. If it's nothing more than a bracket at the flywheel and the connector at the DITC... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I don't have my factory service manual with me at work. Can somebody check and post what the diagnostic process is for checking the pulse sender? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Figure just need the business end, though an entire cable would be nice. Assume the business end could be spliced into the existing cable in the event of a pick up failure.
Sensor #: 931-606-021.00
Manual says: Check current flow between terminals 15 and 13, and also between 15 and 14, with a buzzer. This is the middle pin on the sensor connector (15) to each of the outboard pins (13 and 14 respectively.) Replace flywheel sensor if there is a break.
Handwritten notes in my factory manual say:
"Unit should generate between 1.0 to 2.5 volts at cranking speed."
"New unit measures 9.4 to 9.6 ohms...13 + 14"
Interpret handwritten notes as you can. Not sure if last note means measure resistance between terminals 13 and 14, or between 13 and 15, and also between 14 and 15, respectively. _________________ "Never get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right. Unless you are goin' all the way."

DOCO, on the 931, it's different than the 2.5L motor. The 924S/944 motor has both a crank reference and speed sensors. the mounting arrangement and geometry of those units are somewhat different, not to mention the pigtail end of it.
I'll take some pix of the 931 unit later tonight for reference. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
