| You should be able to make it, but consumption can vary a LOT depending on the state of tune of your CIS, as well as what engine you have (CR) but I assume you have the ROW version, so you should have the best ito power and consumption. |

with a little rich setting i'm able to do 500-550Kms between refills on highways...and i'm sure it could go more if i'd use narrower tires and drive a bit slower.
The last trips i did i've noted the following:
-filled the tank
-drove aprox 500Km then preety soon the orange light starts to flicker...i do another 30-40km slowly and then the orange light stays on...after that the chances of running out or starving the fuel pump increase dramatically but theoretically after the orange light stays on you should be able to do 50 more Km.
400 km should not be a problem for highway driving...i would keep the revs between 2500 and 3000 for optimum fuel consumption and avoind overloading the car. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

About 640kms, could go on for longer but didnt dare. Drove at bout 120-130km/h (speedo). On that trip at that speed the car consumed about 7.3 l/100km. 400 should be easy even with badly tuned CIS

My gauge does the same thing but the low level light works (separate circuit) so when it comes on get gas, maybe 20miles left at that point. _________________ Rick

that might be an easy fix...maybe you have a vacum leak or the AFR is really bad. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

Sorry for asking but a vacuum leak = fuel pipe leak? I suspected my fuel pipe at the back because it looked like it had a bend in it and could mayb caused a fuel sortage for like 5 seconds? i fixed it now and il test it to night when i have to go to the service station _________________ 924 1982 N/A

no, vacum leak refers to the air tract going from the air filter to the throttle body or the small flexible air lines going around the engine bay. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

+1 This is very true. I think that due to age, lack of upkeep (it's a real pain in the backside to track all of the little vacuum leaks), and the high cost of CIS components many 924's aren't as efficient and don't perform at full potential. Obviously this is a generalization in but you need to accurately access the condition of your vehicle to get an idea of what to expect for fuel efficiency.
Assuming your CIS is within normal operating spec's, I don't think that you should have a problem with your trip. I have had my 931 on several 2,000+ mile trips and have seen highway mileage vary from 28 - 32mpg, depending on road conditions, terrain, and how heavy my right foot feels. City driving usually yields around 20+ mpg.
Good luck with the trip! YMMV

I've never been able to get more than 25 MPG on any of my CIS equipped cars. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
