Would love a pair of these. Want to make a set for me? Willing to pay.
May I also suggest you put carriage returns between the IMG tags? Will prevent having to scroll so far to see the pix... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

sorry about the pics not to sure how to do them,I was quoted £400 for some replica gts windows,in the end I made my own,I used 4mm acrilic lightweight perspex,I made very lightweight plastic runners, and recut and styled all the porsche window rubbers,I shaped the windows with heat on the original windows,I used a rubber seal between the 2 sliding windows, ended up costing £15 a window and they look and work great,

To fix the images, hit "edit" on your original post, put the cursor between the close img tag and the open image tag of subsequent photos, and hit the return key. Should look something like this:
| Code: | [IMG]http://url.com/image1.jpg[/IMG] {hit the return key here}
[IMG]http://url.com/image2.jpt[/IMG] |
As for your slider windows...would make a very nice addition to our how-to section... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I had some success with melting the clear plastic. I bought a sheet from Home Depot. I used the metal exterior headlight cover as a form. I used a heat gun and it bent fine but not good enough. Get an old toaster oven and try putting the cover on a brick and the plastic sheet over it.
Attach some weights to each side so that when the plastic melts it pulls it down over the cover.
I searched garage sales for toaster ovens but so far not much success. I suggest you use an extra cover and I would sand it so the paint would not bubble.
Cut excess with a hack saw or suitable saw.For about 5 dollars it is worth a try. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

Lovely job....did you make the headlamp covers as well? What lamp units are you planning on using?

Wow! Look great.
Man you should start producing those side window and light cover.
You would make a fortune here; I’d buy a set of each for sure. _________________ 1976 924 N/A ROW SOLD

Yes I was thinking of producing quite abit of lightweight race items for porsche 924s and 944s,I want to make some lightweight door mirrors,as the originals are so heavy, also lightweight door cards and rear bumper, will think of making the gts lights and lightweight door windows in the new year,I upgrade 944s and 924s for a living so will maybe be able to make items to order, will post some more pics soon

Wow, those are amazing looking lens covers! How thick is the plexi for those? And what temperature did you bake them at/how long? _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

the acrilic I used for the gts lights is 3mm,and I used 4mm for the gts windows,I will add some more pics soon as I am going to do my N/A 924 with the lightweight windows you have to be carefull forming the parts as they can crack like glass I use a heatgun and slowly form the plastic and then use clamps untill it cools down

Hmm.. Last time I used a heat gun it was difficult to get even heating and lead to hot spots. I must have also gotten it to hot/soft as you couldn't put much pressure from the clamps or it'd leave an indent.. I'll have to try again.. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

once you get the hang of it its quite easy,I use rubber tipped peg clamps, and quite a few of them,so as you can bend a little bit at a time

I'll reiterate my interest in a set of the GTS windows. I need a set of lexan windows for my UWB project, and right now the only options are make them myself or buy them from GT Racing (which aren't really GTS style). Would very much prefer windows like yours, and don't fancy trying to attempt making them myself. If you have the process down-pat, I'd just as soon order them from you. Not in a huge hurry, but will need something by May time frame... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
