Welcome to the board.

If you have no other signs of overheating relax, my car has done the same for a long time.

Replacing the combo gauge for another reason did not fix mine, perhaps the temp sensor in the head next?

Get a lower temp thermostat - the stock one clicks at like 92 deg C. You can get one that clicks at a lower temp. I originally had an 87 deg C thermostat in my 924S.

The thermostat is the same part used in many other make of cars.

I guess you are aware that this car has two thermostats? One mechanical located in the waterpump, and one that is actually a thermostat-fan switch located at the upper left hand (seated in car) corner of the radiator.

Clarification - the thermostat/fan switch on the top of the radiator comes in different temp ranges.

Both the thermofan switch in the radiator AND the thermostat in the waterpump are available in at least three heat ranges.
