hi all
looking at a 924S 1983, I have two 924 race cars, but not a S, she looks in good order, belts have been dun and all that stuff, but there is a winEing from the motor, sounds like it is coming fron the front of the head but can not pin point the spot? it has a small oil leek from behind the dizy on the front of the head, my questions r
1)- is there a bering in the front of the head behind the cover of the dizy or is it just a seal?
2)- is the timing belt self adjusting or DIY
im not up to speed with this motor so lots to sort out any imput would help

You must have the year wrong. There is no such thingh as a 1983 924S. The 2.5L engined 924S was only produced between 86-88.
No bearings behind the distributor, only seals. But a seal leak on the front of a 2.5L engine will be fatal to the timing and balance shaft belts. Seeing an oil leak there means that the infamous FOES (front of engine service) is due.
FOES is a very expensive, VERY NECESSARY service, requiring special tools only used on watercooled Porsches, and can easily equal the value of the whole car here in the US if you are not going to invest in the tools and do the work yourself. |

| THere was an earlier 924S with the audi engine, it had a "S" decal on the hood. Cant remember the year though. It is pretty rare. |
