I decided to put it back together similar to how it probably looked when Paul took it apart. Of course, I added a couple of things to 'tweak' it's performance! After beating the p!ss out of it this year, I may add the AIR GTS kit I have to it next summer.
A set of Falken ZE512 from Jason/Flosho, 205 in front, and 255 for the rears.
I stole the GT intercooler from my black car, sorry black car.
The original intake manifold and throttle body of course had to leave. Introducing, a '82 intake manifold, and an '81 throttle body! Kudos to Jason for coming up with the Series II TPS plug for me. And to Rasta for describing the easy peasy method of hooking it up. Easy.
The engine was rebuilt with raceware head studs, 8 or 8.5:1 pistons, we're not sure, a few years ago. It runs flawlessly, hardly a puff of blow by. The CIS system works great, running a bit rich for the moment. The timing is spot on. The wastegate has a 1 bar spring in it, I get 9psi. I have a manual boost controller connected, but have not seen a need to use it! It accelerates at a much faster rate than my black car. The G31 tranny was rebuilt awhile ago, with a 930 machined dog tooth first gear. Works great, not quite used to the different shift pattern! The car has a HD front sway bar, and stock rear. The car corners very well, with hardly any roll to it. Well, I'm not going over 65 on our back roads here, so no accurate higher speed report!
I'd like to thank Paul for coming up with this outrageous, and one-sided, trade for this car, and my '87 924S! I'd also like to thank my blue and red chinese tools for making it happen! I probably wouldn't have done it without the newly intalled car lift.
And of course, all of my clear and brown little friends who happily gave their own for my car! (nice to have a restaurant on your own property!)
The car has it's orginal dust from eastern wisconsin, and I have no immediate plans for cleaning anything. We live in the country, and are leaving for a new winter retreat in the mountains of southern New Mexico for the winter. So, don't beat on me too hard for not cleaning, well, anything! Dammit Jim, I'm a framer, not a finishing carpenter! _________________ '83 944 Track car.

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
Today's weirdness is tomorrow's reason why. |

I remember seeing Spike under a tarp, and its vital bits sitting on a bench, many moons ago...
Good to see it lives again! Congrat's! _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

THanks, was a very fun project, and of course, without the lift, it would have been a lot less fun! But, before I moved down on the farm as they say, I had a house in St. Paul, MN, and that sold this spring. As a tall gift to myself, I bought the lift with some of the proceeds.

Ok, anyone else want to know what the heck that means? _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Um, yeah, I have a fair idea, although the phrasing is wrong. I think it's more along the lines of, "...while I watch the Aussies spank the poms in The Ashes." _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

Glad to see Spike enjoying the twisties again.
The wastegate spring is a ROW .8 bar and it bench tested at 11 psi.
The receipt from EBS should answer the question about the pistons.
I hope that uncovered timing belt is not the one that was on Spike when he was dragged away. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

The Engine Builders Supply co. receipt says part number: 931 103 045 01

Nope, it's a brand new one, and a new tensioner pulley. _________________ '83 944 Track car.
