about how much does it cost to get a/c conversion done at a shop, and does anyone have any shop that they would recommend in the southern, nj philly area _________________ 1987 924s (work in progress)

| what kind of conversion are you talking about? If it is from r12 to r134, you can sometimes get away with screwing an adapter from a retrofit kit on the low side port and simply filling the system. I did it with my 87S and it is still cold after 2 years with only one refill. |

I would not recommend that approach.
The system needs to be fully evacuated of the old oil and refrigerant. ALL of the seals need to be replaced, as well as the receiver dryer. And technically, you should replace the barrier hoses, as the smaller R134a molecule will migrate right through the R12 hoses. If you don't follow this advice, this could be you.

Around here, reputable shops charge between $200-$400 for a conversion depending on original condition of the overall system. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
