How about an update?

Earlier this week I talked to Roger Brown from California Motor Sports. (the place I was buying the 930 dog teeth from) He thought he had new G31 dog teeth but the chamfers on the teeth on the ones he had were in the wrong direction. So he was going to send me the 930 one. He had a few different dog teeth made at Albins so he has a few different ones that no one else has.

I received the dog teeth about an hour ago and evidently he had the correct one! It is a G31 first gear doog teeth, brand new! It cost $210 US. It seems that he also has the one for the 016Z/Y. (without the snap ring) It has 39 teeth instead of 36 like most G31's have.

I have the 915.302.301.06 and a 928.302.301.31 synchros comming. I should get these on Monday. I am positive the 928 synchro will work because the G31 that I got from the UK a few weeks ago had these on 2nd and 3rd. They are identified by 2 grooves on one edge.

I have the 8/33 (4.125) ring and pinion set-up and the LSD is together. I will be assembling the rest of the trans next week when I get the synchros.

I found this place on e-bay. Roger said that they have been in the business of re-building Porsche transaxles for over 25 years but have receintly begun to sell parts to the public.

I'd post some pictures but I haven't figured out what to use as a host. Any ideas?

No. It is an exact replacement. Just remove the original and press on the new one.

I have also confirmed that they have dog teeth for 2nd and 3rd as well.

Do you have any price for these parts?

Got the new synchro rings today. Other than being new VS worn out I can't see any difference.

The first gear ring I have is 915.302.301.06 and for 2nd & 3rd I have 928.302.302.31.

Got the transaxle finished today. One thing I saw (also looked at the other G31's I have as well) was the first gear loose gear is slightly missaligned with the gear on the mainshaft by about 1.5 mm. In other words, the loose gear teeth are to the side of the mainshaft gear by that much. It was the same on all of my G31's you can see it in the marks on the gear teeth.
What I did was I used a thinner spacer washer. (another of the same from the other side of the bearing) What is supose to go ther is a 5.8mm but I substituted a 4 mm. Now the gears are completely engages together.
Here are some pictures.

Since my car has a v8 I wanted to have full engagement.

In my car the 1st gear synchro ring is 931 302 301 02. In the servise i can not buy those part... Is any substitute for this part without any changes in gearbox? GT have 915 302 301 06 - this i can buy in service - are there any changes between this two parts? Or they are identical?
