I recognize the clamp on the power steering return line. Oops, I forgot to tell you about that! It leaks a bit! Were the old belts in Ok shape?

Now you can drive it like you stole it! Wait, I stole the 931!

New belt installation Paul?

Or were you just checking the old ones. If so, how old and how far out of spec were they?

Just taking a look at the belts to see what it needs. The used timing belt spec is 2.7 +/- .3 so it was extremely loose as evidenced by the first reading. Plus you can see rubber dust all over the cam pulley so this was a disaster waiting to happen. Just for fun and to check the spring loaded tensioner, I tensioned the belt to the correct spec.

I will be ordering new belts, etc.

I was going to say that it's probably no coincidence that the factory belt gauge has what appears to be a dollar sign on it...

Finished my version of the front service today (all four belts, all the rollers and tensioners). Also swapped out the oil pressure sender and now the gauge works.

Today I replaced the battery and the combo gauge (now the gas gauge works!). Also adjusted the parking brake. Also added some Dexron to the power steering reservoir. Took it for a couple of rides, now I need to find what is roaring in the rear end,

I know my Transaxle in the back makes quite a bit of noise in neatral just idling. I changed my gear oil to Mobile one GL5 75/90 and it hushed it up alot.. it's been noisy since I've had it for a year and previous owner too ( just noisy transmissions ) I don't think its anything serious as it had got quieter if anything. Could be a wheel bearing in your case.

Hey Paul, I put about 5000 miles on that car since summer of '06, and it always made that noise. Not that I condone such behavior!

At idle, Red's tranny sounds like a garbage disposal with a ball bearing bouncing around inside. It shifts great, though!

I decided to deal with the problem by not laying under the back of the car while it is idling,

Hmm... getting the servicing up to date, and with only two weeks-odd 'til Keystone... might we see a white 924S in the Parade pic's this year?
