Browar, it looks to me like the holes that mount to the strut assembly are slightly different on the 951 spindle. Did you have to modify anything to get them on?

I'd fit the bias valve. You really don't want to spin at hard braking from high speed. The 924S already has 944's front-rear scheme of brake system.

I will check braking force on brake rollers. Then I will consider fitting bias valve.
At the beginning I tried to fit together 951 -86 spindle with 924S fornt McP. by enlarging holes. It just wasn`t "clean" design so I opted for 944 87- front strut.

P.S. Somewhere on the board there is large topic about mods. There is info that 951 spindle should fit . It doesn`t.

Now I asked my friend to fabricate speedo drive. No hole for speedo cable.

Also I don`t have a clue how to install/attache front sway bar larger than 24mm (bigger end) to standard mounting points on A-arm... Any hints?

Aha! I knew it! That makes me feel a bit better about the whole "going crazy" thing.

Why should it make you crazy lol? Both versions of the truth are out there, you just choose to believe the wrong version.

You've got the parts right? If so take pics and provide measurements. Sitting on the fence never helped anyone...

I found some errors in a couple of my posts, so perhaps those are the ones you were referring to. However, if you would have referenced the Google Spreadsheet where I catalogued all of the measurements, you would have seen the correct information.

In any event I've updated the two posts that incorrectly indicated that the '86 951 spindle will work with the early strut housings. Mea culpa.

I have no idea what your point is, but as I said, obtaining junk 951 strut assemblies is a minor expense. . .in the neighborhood of $10 each.

"I am not really understanding why I thought the 951 spindles were a bolt up affair, but they are not. The Koni conversion above seems like the cheapest option to get a fresh 951 front strut under the car. "

My point is simple. WHY did you think 951 spindles were a bolt-on affair? Who told you this? Where did you read this? Why did you ignore counter-claims from those who have posted otherwise?

search is your friend...

Tell you what would be nice.... A comprehensive parts list for this aborted endeavor... pretty shameful state of affairs after all these years. really.

Yes Rasta, you are part of the problem.

Sorry. I don`t get it.

I bought used parts from early 944 T: front spindle, front hub. Front hub has early bearing(common with 924S). McP strut from 924S (early one) doesn`t fit with early 944T (-86). Or somebody know from what car is my spindle(early bearing, early brake disc mounting, late McP bolt patern, 4-pot caliper bolt patern).

Update.

Using 4-pot calipers with standard 924 S brake hydraulics is bad. Brake bias valve is MUST. Rears are locking before front. Wheels 16" 7(205/55)&8(225/50).

But brakes are very good. They are still under bedding-inn process.

P.S.

Browar, yes you can it will be fine. I think the 86'951 needed a bias valve because all four calipers have te same size pistons...but i'm not 100% sure on that because i've never had a set in my hands.

Bias valves are also found on other 944 models. I had an S with a bias valve and that did'nt even come with brembo calipers. I've also seen 951S models with valves fitted too.

If you feel you need one PM me, I have a couple. 1 from that 944S I mentioned and one from a MO30 951...can't remember the valve specs at the moment but there were 2 available. I've got a feeling they are 928 parts.

I've never felt the need to use them, and have never locked up the rears with any of my brembo conversions using 87- 951/S2/968 brembo calipers.

Nice work BTW.

If the pistons are the same diameter front and rear (86' 951 Brembo's), then it would make sense that the rears would lock-up too soon...even with a stepped MC.
