Awhile back I replaced the 81 931 fuel with a fuel pump from a 80 931. The 81 has barely/not been running since. At about 2k the car sputters and backfires thru the air box it makes no difference if driving or manually opening the throttle while it sits.

My question is:
Part number 911.608.102.00 is for the 80 and Part number 911.608.102.02 is for the 81. Does the 81 require a higher pressure pump and what are the differences in the pumps?

In my last post you all suggested that I check the timming and it is right on.

I suspect that it is fuel delivery related.

Thanks for the help

Michael

Eurowebparts shows different pumps:

I'm not sure what the difference is.

Thanks for the pics.

The fuel pump on the 81 that went bad looks like the 80 pump. I beleive that the correctpump was never on the 81 to begin with.

What about the in-tank pump?

All the 924 CIS require nominaly the same pressure. So if you can get it to fit any of the pumps should work.

See the discussion about checking CIS fuel pressure on the General thread!

Also, try pulling the relay and jumpering. Have recently discovered some of my problems may have been bad relay, wiring to it or ???, and it was VERY RPM related.

Did find a bad ground on the relay. Both of my 931's had the exact same problem. I'll check all the wires again.

Thanks

OBTW. I did read the Fuel CIS Section. You have my little blurb at the top of the section.....geeze....I had better follow my own advice!
