Hi Guys,
I am rebuilding my 924 currently to race in a new class here in New Zealand, german renn sport,
I am putting all of my crashed 968 parts into my 924 race car.
I have fitted all of the suspension and am using the Aluminium cross member form the 968 (required some welding and changing mounts)
Car will be running full perspec and is currently just a shell, this is a full race car. Aiming for less than 900kg.
I am running a 944 turbo S gearbox with the standard 17inch Cup wheels from the 968. I am really stuck on the suspension to buy, especially since the New Zealand dollar is so weak at the moment.
Any ideas on what can be done here?
I know there is some other posts here on the topic but i really was after those who had converted to 944 turbo or simular setup.
Quetions around:
Spring rate,
Shocks,
Any help will be appriciated,
I will post pics of where i am up 2 soon, _________________ Cheers Rob

Sounds like it'll be quite a car!
Tell me more about this new class, I haven't heard anything about it yet - is it just a South Island class? _________________ Andrew

You should be able to source everything you need from stock OEM parts, and there are a variety of options available for you to consider, which can be put together in any number of permutations. I've tried to document most of what I've researched here, including a systematic methodology for evaluating the critical design choices and associated dependencies:
http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?p=218957#218957
Bear in mind, that thread is based on theoretical research...while I've used this approach to arrive at my own design choices, I am still in the middle of acquiring everything and getting the suspension built. It would be great to get some independent, real world feedback on how accurate and useful the approach is, so if you take time to read and follow the suggestions, I'd love to get your feedback.

German Renn Sport is a new class here in New Zealand, and the rules are completly open. You must have a german car with a german engine. All cars welcome except porsche cup cars. Fastest car in the class in a 2.8L M3 (E30 M3) and then a 318i super touring car.
I am hoping to give them a run, cant have BMW's beating porsches in races can we!!!!
I will post some pics in the next few days. _________________ Cheers Rob

Yes, it will be a 968 powered beast,
I brought the 968 as a crashed car (it has been hit in the back) i then later discovered that it was a CS!, I was going to convert to RHD and then put it back on the road here but i was going to cost too much.
My 924 has been in the garage for a long time and its mere 135hp in race trim is just too slow now days for most racing
So i figured, bugger it, i will stick the 968 stuff into the 924..
I thought about rebuilding the 968 into a race car, but the costs would have been higher as the 924 already has a cage etc plus i prefer the 924 shape.
I am not sure if anyone else has done this conversion for a race car?
but i am hoping that the 240+ hp of the 968 engine will really get this thing going. _________________ Cheers Rob
