Is this a good deal, or am I getting ripped off?

Hey another oregonian!

Hell man I got mine for $750, didn't run, didn't start, wouldn't even roll forward (the brakepads were stuck to the rotors)....

If the car runs and starts for that price and it's in pretty good condition that's not a bad deal at all.

You'll want to take a look at it in person and see what kind of potential things you'll need to replace.

Yeah just remember to check up in the engine bay and make sure she shifts okay and everything. Fuel system parts, engine parts and transmission parts will ruin your day and budget if you have to fix any of that...

What needs finished?

Man, that turbo car has been up for sale forever. What in the world is wrong with it? It doesn't say that it doesn't run, btw, it says that it's not driveable. Wonder why?

Somebody should go over there with $400-$500 in cash and a trailer. I bet you'd come away with a pretty darn good car that could be fairly easily resurrected. I'd do it if it wasn't 3000 miles away.

You and me both, Dan. I keep waiting for my ship to come in but they either got lost or forgot to pay the oarsmen.

Well there is a 1980 near me for $400 as I recall.

Not running... not a turbo.

But heck I know people always talk about how much you will spend getting it running right.

The past 3 I spent less than $300 to get them up to par. Of course... I am a bit picky but most of the time it is a small item like a fuel pump and a tune up and they are good to go.

That also said... cams can be worn and cost a lot... fuel systems and be gummed up... and be a pain to clean out. I guess I have been lucky.

Yeah, for all the horror stories, there are some remarkable successes. My latest 931 "resurrection" cost me 25 miles in gas and about 2 gallons of kerosene. Granted, Vaughan had done all the hard work about a year and half earlier, but still, the car was non-running when I got it, and performs like a champ now.

Hi there
If it runs & shifts you cant go wrong. FYI do check the electrical closely does it crank over slowly & do the wipers run slowly. There is a good chance you will have to installed extra ground cablesfor the engine & body. makes a world of difference! good article on the 924 .org web site Also does it start fine hot or cold Idle smoothly? they are prone to vaccuum leaks One more thing get a repair manual haynes are easy to come by& cheap well worth the money. Saves your hair

Hell, mine was $600 and I limped it to Portland from the Canadian border!

Note: now that I've worked on it for a while, I'm amazed I made it in one piece!

I paid one dollar for my 79N/A and drove it home without a problem. I can let it sit for months and it fires up easily each time. Straight body, interior abit worn and it needs paint.
