I've been slowly working on the car. Today I have made some progress. I managed to get the fenders off (what a PITA!), some more electrical stuff weeded out, and some more non-essential components off. I'm going to sell off whatever it is I don't need. So if anyone needs anything I have taken off shot me an offer, and I'll get it out to you.

Most of the factory injection items removed.

This is what was in the fender well. Just as much on the other side also.

Another engine shot. Injector plugs already installed.

I have one question to ask.

Why didn't you gunk the engine first? Start with a clean slate and you will not get dirty or get dirt in the engine. Its hard to understand.

As an aside you should clean out the rear of the fenders often as dirt and debris get stuck there. Sometimes there is a gap for it to fall out sometimes not. This area is the first to rot. I have owned my 77 1/2 since new and I cleaned this area alot and it still rusted. I think the constant hammering by little rocks eats away the zinc coating.

Work Clean.

I've actually decided to pull the engine and clean it, so I can clean the engine bay also. I'll bolt the stock intake back up, and have at it.

I ordered 4 transmission drain plugs from pelicanparts.com Since the holes are threaded they went in with no trouble what so ever.

Please plug up those intake ports with some paper towels, even a little bit of dirt will score a cylinder.

I made some progress last weekend. The engine is out, and I'm having a mate from work cut me a piece of aluminum to block off the intake side and found some plastic plugs to block off the exhaust side. The first time getting the engine was a pita. But I learned my lesson and finally got it.

The interior was also stripped out too. There must have been at least 100 pounds of stufff that came out of there. I'll be getting a pressure washer this weekend so cleaning the engine bay and motor should be a breeze.

or do i have to un screw a plastic injector seat?

ps my manifold is being welded as we speak so should have it done in a few weeks

I pulled the injectors and the seats the injectors were in. I thrashed one getting it out, but the others came right out. I cleaned up the threaded area and screwed the plugs in.

I was going to go with the original engine with the side drafts, but I have read a good portion of the rebuild parts are NLA. And to add to the fact that there is a crack in the oil bag right above the drain plug about half way between the plug and where the pan meets the block. I have a 70 nova sitting outside that the engine was just rebuilt, so I will find the necessary parts to shoe-horn the 350 in it and call it good.

The interior is going to be bare bones. A simple dash, seats and a steering wheel. Oh yeah the shifter too.
