Is anyone in Oz interested in an Audi 5 speed tranny, or 2, or 3?

Understand they are to Auto, Audi 4 speed (early 924), and of course 79+ Audi 5 speeds.

These are the 016/9 924 later units so will replace all but the 016Z dog leg, snail shell 5 speeds.

I'd be interested, except I have to get rid of the car cause i'm moving interstate.

Good luck drumming up support.

Sorry RC... didn't quite get your previous post... I'm hungover so sue me.

If i've got a 77 4 speed... how much of a drama is the bolt up?

How much are you looking at offloading them for?

4 speed to 5 should be a straight swap.

Likewise mate,.......tis the season of extra hangovers......

Havn`t done it, but have read, as Rich says, it`s a straight swap.

I`m not selling them, someone else has 5 for 1K delivered to one sea port (Brissy ?). Possible additional $150 custom fee as I was told. Just want to share the actual cost of $200-$230 per unit, plus any local shipping depending on location.

I don't need them at the moment but I'll put my hand up for two. If other guys are interested in taking one or two I don't mind buying the lot.

Same thoughts here Peter.

I`ll take 2 or even 3 if nobody else wants one.
Dropping them in Sydney is ideal for me.

Sending PM.

Yeah, at that price i might be very well interested in one.

And RC... depending on which harbour they'd get delivered to, me coming down to you to pick one up from Coffs shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

Not sure if Scorp or Fez have already got 5 speeds or not.

Whichever way this goes I`m flexible. Could meet at the border, GC, Byron, whatever.

Do any Qld`s want one?

ATM am considering shipping to Adelaide since I have secure long term storage here. Not ideal, particularly if any/many are going to Qld. Unfortunately Peter has no storage in Sydney but can take 2. Can possibly pick up mine and Peter`s in Brisbane if necessary.

Wasn`t sure about that 1K customs thing Peter. Sounded sus. Figure we can only be up for an extra 10% GST but know nothing about custom fees. What do you think?

Or since he says he has 25 more shall we just leave it and see what eventuates?

something about this seems a little strange. I assume he has these overseas still, and doesn't want to risk customs himself.

from what i can tell, as long as whatever you buy has a declared value under $AUD1000 you shouldn't have to pay any customs clearance fees. but i think you can still possibly be slugged GST is they feel like it.

At the end of the day, where are you going to find any 5 speed boxes in australia for anything like $200 + fees? If you want a 5 speed, this may be the only real option.

Yeah, sounds like a decent deal.

I doubt macBdog will be interested since he's going small-block chev in his. Would the 5 speed take the torque? But like i said... maybe Scorpio, who's in Brissie as well or Fez, who's on the north coast and an easy drive for Scorp or myself... or maybe even Ozzie, i know his is an auto. But then again he might like the auto.
