I have been told the torque tube for the snailshell is shorter than the Audi transimissions tube. How much shorter is it, and are the splines the same? If an Audi tube was shortened and had new splines machined, would it fit?

The reason I ask is, I am picking up a G31 with a bad torque tube. There is damage around the very tip.

I know the G31 had a shorter tube, as opposed to the Audi 931 and 944 tubes. My crazy idea is that if I can get an Audi inner shaft, I can have new splines cut into it, and use it with the G31's tube. I need the extra length to attach the tube to a Ford bellhousing...
