My electric windows died a few days ago (both sides).

As I understand it, this is a result of either the fuse or the relay.

Question is which is the fuse/relay for the windows (UK model if that makes any difference?)

Thanks for any help given.

Here is a link to the Tech section of this site which has a fuse/relay map. Acording to the list on the page, (electrics>relay and fuse ID/locations), it is position 8 on the addiional fuse panel.

Hey, I answered a question instead of asking one!

Also check the contacts on the switches.

Any solution on this yet? I have the same problem - both windows died.

Switches are OK, fuses are OK, motors are OK, no relay listed for windows...

Still looking for a solution...

Unfortunately still no solution.
I have no idea were this magical window relay lives!

I did have fun on Sunday when the windows started working again only to pack up (open) as the rain came. Had to cobble a "jumper" to get the drivers window closed.

Also "8" on my Aux fuse panel is lacking a fuse or any cables going to it.
It looks like theres never been one...

Looks like Im spending this weekend tracing wires.

Power window relay - On my car (late '82, so it has the same HVAC system as yours), the relay is clipped to the side of the HVAC box - easily accessible from the left footwell (your passenger side)(check the other side if it's not there). You may find a "radio" relay clipped on right next to it.

FINALLY A SOLUTION!

If anyone else has problems with both windows not working, the window relay part number is:
944 615 112 00 30gbp direct from Porsche!

Located (On RHD cars) to the right of the fuse box next to the center consol.
Its red BTW.

I hope this helps some one else.

could be the window motors them selves, strange they could both blow at the same time, possible the result of a surge that the fuse did not protect. there are a couple of blank spots on the fuse box, porsche and VW liked to make interchangeable parts so there are always blanks and lose wires as a result of systems being combined. check the switches but sounds like if the fuse is ok and the wires are ok its the motors.

For what it is worth I have had my 88 924s since new and every several years I have to take apart one of the window switches and clean the internal contacts (rather than buy a new switch for $40). It is not hard but besure to get it back together the same as it was.
