Took me good 2 hours to clean the oil out of it, and another 2 to clean that oil off of the walls and tub. DEFINETELY don't let your wife/significant other see you doin' that. Repercussions WILL follow.

On the other hand, I am now in posession of a gigantic oil cooler out of a diesel S-class, an electric water pump out of an e-class, and a small Volvo coolant tank. I shall soon have an operational Abomination #1

I KNOW!!! It was like a scene from a horror movie, only instead of red stains you had black.

But I got caught during the act, so I was busy cleaning up the house, doing the laundry, and washing the dishes for the rest of the day. Asking for a camera would have been like asking for a seppuku sword

My wife actually turned me on to washing car parts in the dishwasher!!

The worst I did in the bath was drop my Haynes manual in while I was learning about wiring diagrams.

+1 to the dishwasher. My wife was begging for a new, more modern dishwasher, so I took the old one downstairs and just installed it last week next to the wash tub. I now have wash tub (that I got for FREE when the house next door was being refurbed for sale...perfectly good, almost like new just sitting on the curb), parts washer (old dishwasher), blast cabinet (new) and powder coating oven (cheap from Craigslist). All I need now is to get the 220 wired up in the garage

I did put it in an oven at 250F half-way through, worked quite well at loosening the inter-fin crud, and went unnoticed...

But dishwasher? I'd get castrated. Again, this wasn't a dirty fuel distributor or a body panel, it was a DIESEL oil cooler full of oil that kept belching out oil and crap flakes for two hours non-stop, one end attached to the shower hose and the other end in the tub. The exterior cleaning was even worse, it had a good quarter-inch of crud on it in places.

But damn, does it look good now

I cant figure it out im with slam.. what would motovate you to take a dirty
DIESEL oil cooler full of oil that kept belching out oil and crap flakes for two hours non-stop, & stick one end attached to the shower hose and the other end in the tub. Were you like out by the garage under the sun
looking at the outside hose and the drain by the curb when the light bulb came on " I know ill take this thing into the house and stick in the tub..."
then you got to clean out the tub for a couple hours man you got a dim bulb. no offense my razzin you is all in fun.. oil coolers in the tub !
Get real.

I ran some heads through the dishwasher and it worked great! I thought that I was the only one to try that....

When I was in the army we would take the barrel of the rifles in the hot shower and let the water run through it. Then we rotated the barrel overhead till dry. Work great but by army rules it was a no no.

I did want to use the oven to mold the headlight covers but got a very, very bad stare from the wifey.
