hey all,
any ideas on how to straighten polyurethane spoilers? I pulled this one off the frankenporsche, pretty beat up. I figure i can mend the tears with an epoxy, but not sure how to go about straightening the deformities..
all i think of so far is running a metal backing on one side, and applying heat to the other?

my first thought would be heat... but I guess you can screw it up quite easily that way. _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

Heat would be my solution also. But not from a flame use a heat gun and maybe some stiff metal to make braces to hold it while it cools. _________________ Rick

Use a hair dryer first. Then a heat gun. Go slowly or you will blister the piece.
Maybe you should mount the valance first to see how much of a curve you have. Then use heat. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

This is how I have successfully fixed dents and defeats in Poly urathane parts. have some pieces of wood cut that you can clamp the area straight with. Once you have the part ready to be clamped you heat the area FIRST with the hot setting of the heat gun. get it as hot as possible without blistering. Then clamp it straight. Cool it with a water soaked cloth.
You may have to hyper extend the dented area to over come the spring back effect the damaged area with being suffering with. _________________ 1976 924
