To the OP:
http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=21373
or look up and browse through the wheel thread topic.
Now that you're armed with information, go hit up google image search and seek out Mustang or Porsche wheels that you might like the shape of. Copy those images to your computer and open them in MSPaint, Gimp or Photoshop and change their color. Keep going until you find one YOU like.
We all have different opinions and feelings on what looks good. In the end it is your car and your money. Do what you like. _________________ Stefan

They look kinda like the 80's GTA Trans Am wheels? |

Personally, I don't care for the Fuchs painted body color:

Would any basket weaves fit on a 924? I'd love to put some colored ones on mine. _________________ 1979 Porsche 924- Snailshell

You'd have to do a little research on that.
I know that the Mclaren and Saleen Mustangs of the early-mid eighties had them in 4-lug (4x4.25"/4x108mm) form. Like was posted before, watch the offset.
My 79 has some, but it came to me running adapters to convert from the 4x4.25/4x108mm bolt pattern to the Porsche 5x130mm pattern. The wheels on my car apparently were made by Ceres and are 16" in diameter by 7" wide.

Most of the club members sneer at anything that is not 911. I really don't care. I just did not have the desire to drive on these tracks yet. Main reason was I did not register the car although I have this week. |
Vince,
we need to check out scca and NASA events soon! _________________ Eric

Rial also has some very nice style rims that are period appropriate, and look a lot like the BBS rims of that era. Here's what's going on my UWB project:
Just acquired these about a month ago. 7" up front and 9" in back. Lips will be highly polished, and centers will be painted body color. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Know of any online stores that would sell those? Or something similar? _________________ 1979 Porsche 924- Snailshell

The only place I've ever seen Rials are on eBay, so I suspect they're no longer manufactured. I am not aware of any aftermarket manufacturers that make a wheel similar to these or the BBS. Best option is to troll eBay and Craigslist. Took me over a year to find these. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Some US 79 924s have five bolt wheels and four wheel disc brakes. they were optional on the Sebring Special Edition. I don't know if the four wheel discs were available as options on standard cars. Porsche has a history of making some parts only available as parts of packages (some examples: rear hatch spoiler, berber cloth interior, machine finish ATS BBS basketweave 4-bolt wheels, and rear mud guards on the 81 Weissach Special Edition). These parts became orderable options for the 82 model year (except for the special finish wheels).
The brake parts had 928 part numbers (is it any wonder, that later 924 and 944 cars can use many of the same service parts (caliper seal kits, brake caliper hardware, rotors, brake pads, etc...)?
Narrow Fuchs wheels are available, but as has been already pointed out some wheel offset are scarce and expensive. 6s and 7s is what would work. The problem would be finding them, and the price. |

Oooooh, I love the four spoke modulars!
The problem is, they don't specify the bolt pattern or offsets... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
