You could buy a 931 valence and put it in the 931 location. Seems like I also saw a pretty good kit for this, but I can't find it now. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Will this be in addition to the water-to-oil stock cooler, or are you bypassing that unit somehow?

He's replacing the stock oil console with one from a 951. This eliminates the oil/water matrix. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Sweet. I always thought that contraption was a poor and unreliable solution to oil cooling

Yes and no.
It's a very good system for a street driven vehicle which needs to warm up a rapidly as possible in widely variable temperature conditions. To my mind it should be thought of as an heat exchanger (as it would be labeled on the almost 100% of jet engines with similar units).
Note with interest that Porsche only changed the system in the turbo. Traditionally an application with LOTS more heat to get rid of.
I think I'd keep it running a street car unless my home was in a very hot region. I do try to find the turbo housing to install on race motors. Not easy as they are most often priced at silly numbers. _________________ John

Ok, So I relocated the horns and installed the cooler on the Drivers side, Got the hoses installed. Now I just need to modify the lower valance for better air flow

Mine is placed in front of the coolant radiator... and turned 90degrees... so it's about 5" to the right, compared to your location..
can't tell how it works, but it couldn't be in a better air flow and I didn't have to adapt any valance. _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

Ahh Yes, The down side to your setup is that fact that all the hot air from the oil cooler is being picked up by the RAd and back into the coolant system and into the engine, You Just make almost the same kinda setup the Porsche used stock. The way I have it wont tax the cooling system as it has its own air flow and the heat from the rad and the oil cooler stay seprated thus making it more efficient. So far its been running fine, Temps havent gone over the half mark when driving, Oil pressure stays between 3-5 bars depending on temp _________________ Rebuild COMPLETED, Many mods, better power, Just ask for info |

ide be guessing that with a GT front bumper you couldnt have the oil cooler in the horn or windscreen washer tank section as the Gt bumper has no venting to this area or am i missing something? _________________ 1979 NA
