I discovered in PET that the >82' 931's have an extra oil breather on the cylinder head.

Will this be an usefull upgrade for a 81' 931 ?

That was added as part of the last of about three versions of the turbo oil drain. That line runs from the head to the top of the turbo oil drains' air/oil seperator. It's purpose was/is to control condensation, and to equalize pressure at both ends of the turbo oil drain line to improve drainage.
