My wife and I just purchased a red 1981 924 turbo (aka 931?). I have been a reasonable porsche fan for some time now. I have 2 other turbo cars, a 1991 Toyota MR2 and a 1988 Toyota Celica All-Trac/GT-4 turbo so I am familiar with rasing boosr levels to gain more performance. What I am not familiar with is the mechanical fuel injection on my 924. I have a ton of questions about my car. BTW I am on mailings lists for both the MR2 and the All-Trac/GT-4. Is there a Porsche 924 mailing list? I'l start posting problems/questions seperately to try to keep these shorter. Thanks, Aaron

CIS injection, not really mechanical. There is a Bosch book on injection by Robert Probst. Buy it .

By the way your Asian cars probably have a Bosch licensed fuel injection system.

As a matter fo fact they do. Both of them, and my 87 MR2 all use a Air Flow Meter type injection (as opposed to a Mass Air Meter or Manifold Absolute Pressure) system. All three of them have the little "flapper door" air flow meters. Aaron

...Just like the 944, sounds like L-Jetronic. You really should then get Probst's book, since it'll help with all cars. Furthermore, if you haven't already gotten it, check out the book "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell; it's an excellent source of info on modifying and upgrading turbo systems, comprehensive, but understandable.
BTW, Corky has also written a very nice article on buying a used turbo car (in general), which is in the latest issue of Grassroots Motorsports (www.grassrootsmotorsports.com)

Check it out!
