| I'm rebuilding my blown wastegate and adding the 1 bar spring. Question - is it necessary to change the overboost sensor with this new spring? |

Nope but you better add an intercooler....I see a blown head gasket in your future. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

geez, I'm glad I asked! I've already been thru one head-pull and would prefer not to do it again. I thought the 1 bar mod was a simple one. Didn't realize I needed to add the intercooler as well. Soooo, the modified WG will sit on the shelf for a few months till I can afford the intercooler.
Anyone out there care to offer suggestions on where to procure the intercooler and tips on installation>? |

If Flosho still has his Thermal Hard Pipe for sale, that might be a really good option for you...he's in Wisconsin too! IMO, that would be the quickest, cheapest, easiest path for adding some charge cooling. At his asking price, it's not a bad deal either, although you'd need to source the rest of the setup (rad, pump, hoses, etc.). The other option would be to go with a PWR water-to-air IC like Eric did. May I suggest you take a gander at my Thermal Management post? More links to other options, and an overview of the relative merits to the various approaches. You could also consider a methanol injection setup, but IMO, you'd be better off with a liquid-to-air setup, unless you have the time, energy, and budget to install a 951 unit. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Flosho's THP is a cool way to go. Don't need any extra plumbing or crap. Pump and heat exchanger - easy to fit in that cramped space. _________________ 1980 924 turbo, MSD, Meth. Inj, otherwise stock. |

However tucking it in there near the turbo/mani is less than ideal for heat soak reasons. _________________ Toofah King Bad

can't be any worse than the cgt intercooler, and I recall flosho reporting that the charge tube was cool to the touch post-install, which is better than stock for sure. whether it could cope with the heat gain from 1 bar boost levels is subject to debate, and unfortunately, lindsey racing haven't provided any measurable metrics on the thp. personally, I don't think 1 bar spring is the way to go regardless of intercooling. electronic boost controller seems to be the most elegant (and tunable) solution. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Agreed, the primary reason for nose or battery box instead.

Or water/methanol injection!
