|

I've talked with 924RACR and Ideola about hooking up this weekend. I'm coming back home for a family get together Sat night in the Ann Arbor area and am driving my 924 up from Indy (first long trip for her in 15 years). I plan on checking out the race(s) on Sat during the day until I gotta do the family thing. And then come back again on Sunday if time permits. If any of the MI board members or anyone else are game to hook up that would be great. I've gotten lots of great info from you guys and would like to meet up with you and check out your rides as I've never been in another 924 and would like to see some comparisons. Ideola and I talked about meeting up Sat and heading over to the track, anyone else interested? I plan on leaving Indy around 6:30 am which would put me in Ann Arbor around 11 ish. Let me know!!!! _________________ Michael

Here's the post I put over on Rennlist:
| Quote: | To all 924 / 944 / 968 / 928 owners in SE Michigan (and environs):
How about a quick little GTG this weekend? Pub Racing is set to dominate the action at Waterford Hills this weekend (provided Vaughan was able to complete his structural repairs this weekend...he better have, considering we abandoned the Taj Ma trip).
Anyway, one of our fellow 924board members is coming up from Indy this weekend and was wanting to connect with some SE MI water-cooled enthusiasts. We can plan to meet at my place in Plymouth and convoy from there (hmmm...some decent early morning driving to be had on Saturday between Plymouth & Wateford!), or we can all just meet at the track. I'll have at least 3 cars available to make the run, possibly a fourth if anyone wants to take advantage. (81 924 NA, 80 931, 80 928 Euro, and possibly an 87 924S).
If we're interested in a Plymouth rendez-vous, perhaps coffee at my place, or a breakfast locale depending on how early we want to be up & about. I would suggest meeting between 8:30-9 AM, departing around 9:30, and arriving at the track around 10:15-10:30.
I know this is a bit last-minute, but thought it might be worth the effort. Please post your interest here, and PM me with contact info so I can work on coordinating the details.
Cheers, and Go Vaughan! Go Chris! |

No responses and only 28 views between the two posts. This most recent outage episode just drives home how terrible the signal-to-noise ratio is on the other boards. I can hardly stand it!!!! Thanks Pete for all the hard work getting the board back up and running.
So, any takers besides Michael for this weekend?????? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Dude, you're killin me! Hell, me being self-employed I usually don't even get out of bed til 7:30! And I gotta make a 4-5 hour trip, that means you want me awake at 4 am? I think I'll just leave the night before. I'm game for 8:30ish Sat morning though. I'll be in staying in Whitmore Lake but will call you for some directions before I leave Indy. Hope some others can make it too! _________________ Michael

Yeah, night before would be better in the long run...will make for a more enjoyable day all around on Saturday.
Are you bringing the toofah? If so, it might make sense to meet for breakfast up in Whitmore Lake, and then drive over from there...but if you need a car, we should meet at my place...let me know, you've got the number. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

yup, she's running up to par for the trip! Gonna be a little warm though with no AC. Which reminds me...you still have that AC setup you're not using??? Hint, Hint..
We can meet in Whitmore if you want. We could meet at my uncle's place (for breakfast/coffee) which is on Barker Road about 1 mile off M-23 or there is a Polly's market (no breakfast/coffee) on Barker road where it T's at the lake that would be a good spot or we could meet at your place (AC, hint hint, wink, wink). Whichever is easier. _________________ Michael

Mike, I'll take a look at logistics this evening...so far, I'm thinking a meet point up in Whitmore Lake makes the most sense. No worries about the AC system...it's already pulled and sitting on the shelf waiting for you. I'll bring it along either way.
Incognito, get that starter fixed _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Status update on the racecar; repairs are completed and the car's reassembled. Needs a bit of wet-sanding and finishing of the finish (after some paint repairs), and an alignment/cornerweight check, then she should be ready to go.
Dan, can you copy over that schedule info stuff? _________________ Vaughan Scott

Note that Chris and I race in ITB, which is Group 5 this year.
So on Saturday, we'll be qualifying around 11:30-ish, and our race is somewhere around 4:30PM - but no times are certain, the schedule is flexible. Also note that access to the paddock is closed off while the track is hot, so plan to arrive early if you're looking to get into the paddock.
On Sunday, our group doesn't race until immediately after lunch, maybe 1 or so, and then we have a second race in the afternoon around 5PM. However, if you are to choose a day to come, Sunday may be the better, as it's racing all day from 10:30 till close, whereas Saturday morning is all taken up with qualifying sessions.
Additional side amusement, non-motorsports related; I have a third race Sunday! It'll be real early; I think the gun goes at 7AM or so... it's a foot race, a 5K around the track! So I'll be there early, you're welcome to come watch... though there'll be a long gap till we're on track! |

I would be game for meeting you guys at Waterford Hills and watching the races. Even though I am Porscheless right now I'm still an enthusiast at heart and would love to meet some of you guys.... I will have another toofah someday, but for now the vette will have to suffice. _________________ 1986 Porsche 944 |
