my drivers side is broken or something. when i roll the window up it doesnt stop at the top it just keeps going up and smashing into the top and bouncing down its really annoying and cant be very good. has anyone ran into this problem or know what could be the issue.

Replace or repair your switch. You could swap one of the passenger side switches until you get another one. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

This one sounds like a regulator or motor gear problem. If pressing the up part of the switch moves the window up, and pushing the down moves it down, then the switch is doing what it's supposed to. A broken or loose gear, or possibly the whole motor or regulator is loose...something like that might cause your symptoms. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. The motors and the switches seem to be the main problem areas with the power windows (another possible problem area would be wiring and connections at the fuse-relay panel, and the relay, but I haven't had any trouble with those). I've had both motors out, once each, for cleaning and regreasing at different times a year or so apart. -And the switches have had several cleanings. One finally stopped responding to the cleaning, so it got replaced just a few months ago. In addition to it now working reliably, the window that switch is on moves much faster.. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

I cleaned the driver's side up real good and greased all the tracks and gears last winter, and it is like twice as fast as the passenger's side.
Both windows stopped working at the same time, so I expect it's a problem with the relay or fuse block. I made a jumper wire from the battery, and the motors and switches work fine on both windows.
Time to dig around under the dash again....sigh

On my car, the window relay and the radio relay are clipped onto the left side of the hvac box. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

I'll dig around and see if I took any pics for dis-assembling the door panels and motors, etc. It was a little bit of a pain, especially the plastic lining on the inside of the panel.
The wiring diagram indicates a relay in the circuit for the windows motors, but the fuse and relay chart I have does not indicate the location of the relay on the main block.
Smoothie - where was the relay in your car?

Center, 1/3 from the top in this pic -
<click>
In this case, the radio relay's the left one, and the window relay's to the right of it. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

i took my door apart to see if i could do a quick fix, it didnt work. i think your right it must be something with the motor or the regulator. it looks pretty hard to take out of the door so im waiting till i have some time i geuss.
i took a video of it so you could see and hear exactly whats going on, heres the Link _________________ 1987 924S - MO30 30/19 - Yellows all around |

Well, the gremlins have vacated the car (again) and the power windows now work.
I didn't do anything....weird... _________________ 1987 Porsche 924S - track toy
