No it doesn't make me grumpy or want to murder anybody over bad mouthing a Martini Rossi. I have sent John pictures and a article on the Martini Rossi, which, is posted on this Website. Having owned two of them (still have my first one)I still beleive these cars are fine example of art for their time. Thank you Brad and Vaughan for your kind comments.

Michael

Hope I didn't offend anyone with the Martini comment. Even the other porsche models recieved similiar design treatments in that era. And for that era it was cutting edge. I personally think the strips convey very well the performance attributes of the early 924. The orange interior is striking and ment to draw attention to the interior of the car. We have to remember the competition in those days was pretty tough. Every one was shooting for the economy performance market. And Porsche was fighting for the American dollar, and I think we all can agree that the 924 won the battle and saved the company.

The only 924 I haven't seen much of is the Sebring edition. The Weissach edition in 81 was a really neat car, there was one locally that had low miles and high price tag (7K). I've seen two Martini's sadly both in very bad shape. If anyone else out there knows of any special edition models or history, please post it. Maybe the webmaster can dedicate a page or two to a historical rundown.

By the way has anyone ever seen a 75 924, I've seen a 76 (may have been a 77, but there were alot of differences) model (grey market car?, had aftermarket AC) at a salvage. I'm really curious of when the cars actually started production. I also have a 82 944, should anyone have any info on them.

Don't be too surprised by the aftermarket AC; prior to 78 or 79, it was the only way to get AC in a 924, and a popular dealer-installed option. My '77.5 Cal-spec car had it.

Only 1977 had no air. My 1978 has factory air and my 79 does to. Brad

my 77 parts car has factory air, whether a 77.5 or 77 I don't know off hand. But the 76 I looked at had so many little differences that I concluded it was very early or a euro version.
