At last year's titanic 944 register's trip to the Weltmeister dynometer, me and my bro tagged along with the 931 s2....

so you've got 168 hp on the rear wheels?
That's a nice score as far as I know... if the factory says 170 on the crank...
Nicely made film by the way _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

cheers. Yeah that was last year, unfortunately we've sold the car since then - factory specs (at the wheels) for UK spec was 177HP I believe. We hit 168.3HP, though the only mods were oversize pistons and a K&N...
thanks for your kind comment about the film too!

It wasn't us who rebuilt it so I can't really tell you - the only thing is I remember when we replaced the head that the piston heads weren't stock - there are some photos on the board somewhere of them, I think they were the larger of the ones listed on PET.
The car was awesome - circumstances meant it had to go though - my brother's got a list of new and used parts we've got left over, I think he's posted them before (noisybrother) - that's him talking on the vid btw and his son _________________ 1998 BMW Z3 2.8 arctic silver & red

I hate to be pedantic (especially when morghen is already rapt with the result ) but I think you'll find that 177hp figure quoted by Porsche for the "Euro/Rest-of-the-world" 924 Turbo is engine/flywheel/crank/whateveryawannacallit horsepower, not the horsepower at the wheels. I also think you'll find that figure is quoted as 177 PS (as I understand it, PS is German for "Pferdestärke", which literally means horsepower, but it is a metric unit, which is stated as slightly less than one 'international' horsepower, which is what the Yanks use, I think... am I getting tedious yet?). Anyways, the difference between 1 'international' horsepower, 1 Pferdestärke, 1 brake horsepower, etc, is negligible, really. But the difference between 'flywheel' horsepower and 'rear wheel' horsepower is not.
If your car is/was actually reading at 168-odd horsepower at the rear wheels -and I don't doubt for second that it was -that is a very impressive result! That puts you well over the factory-quoted power. Interestingly, Kye's apparently stock RoW 924 Turbo dyno'd at over 160rwhp...
Mine only hit 150rwhp

Think everyone's got this out of proportion - 168 is an extrapolated flywheel reading based upon a (lower) rearwheel reading extrapolated using Porsche's figures. The dyno software does this automatically. No stupid claims going on here, simply a (nearly) stock 931 and a video I wanted to share.

That is a nice and well produced video.
Sure no speeding tickets were incurred either.
Good job. I enjoyed watching it.

however the other guy's 931 pulled it preety good.
Anyways its still only 2 hp down wich is realy good...you could get 170 or even more in a cooler day. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

(Khal, no worries, I made the original mistake when I said at the wheels when I meant at the flywheel)
