Is there any difference in the quality that anyone is aware of. Maybe they all come from the same place, IDK.

The crack above the instrument cluster is finally getting to me - starting to form a little pitched roof. Time to cap it.

All of my 924s have dash caps, 3 are plastic and one is carpet/fabric style. On a black interior, a properly fitted plastic cap is almost indistinguishable from the stock dash except to the trained 9xx enthusiast's eye. However, they can and do crack, break, and warp, particularly if left out in the sun. Most folks seem to not care for the carpet / fabric style. While they certainly are more obvious, IMO they don't actually look all that bad if they are properly installed and kept clean.

Thanks, I'll go with the black. Just bought some seat covers , black with brown leather insert. Should work out OK.

One thing I strongly suggest is to install them with doublesided velcro strips... not glued down.

The velcro strips allow the dash to expand and contract on its own with the changes in temp. The dash material will expand and contract at different rates and if glued to the cover ... will crack it in two.

I have seen them split right in the center when they are glued. Of course ... if yours is a gargage queen then you might get away with the glue... but I did the velcro and it fits great with no issues. Make sure it is the thin velcro though.

Excellent point Eric...I forgot to mention that, but all of mine were installed that way, and no issues. So yes, use Velcro

Clear silicone adhesive will also let it move without cracking. Some manufacturers supply it with the dash. If you use silicone, make sure it is applied liberally to all areas, otherwise the new cap will warp. Ask me how I know.

there are also a couple of different manufacturers, i have dash cap on mine and its a much better fit than a few others ive come across. i dont know the names of the other ones, but they were decidedly different. not bad mind you, just didnt flow as well.

Velcro is definitely the way to go, ive seen glued on ones take half the dash foam with them if removed, and at some point, they will need to be removed for something or other...
