i have been a longtime lurker here on the fourm and have learned a ton just by reading..... but this is the first time i have a question to ask you guys. for some reason my gas gauge needle has started to quiver or wiggle or bounce (whatever you wish to call it). these are not drastic swings from like empty to full or anything like that. its just the gauge is always shaking a bit. for example if the gauge was at 1/2 full the needle would wiggle from maybe 3/8 to 5/8 for a tank.
does anybody have any ideas? the car doesnt have alot of miles and has always been taken care of and all services done on time ect......
thanks in advance for your help/ideas?

I am guessing you have a 20 year old Porsche.

There are many possibilities, from the sender, to bad wiring or oxidized grounds on the body or behind the dash.

The good news is the light will still work!

it has a light? never noticed lol
i doubt its wiring or grounds because the car has only ever gotten wet when it was washed (i think it has been it the rain like 3 times its whole life) it been in my family since new.....
so maybe the seding unit is going bad then..........
hmmmm

I'd sell it before something else goes.

TO ME, of course. (check my signature).

I don't think you want to sell it to Paul...
He's got too many running cars to take care of already...
You need to sell it to me, somebody who who only has one running
car and will nurture it and give you a bucket of cash for it...

BC

P.S. I bought my first 924S (white) from a guy in Webster, NY

i honestly dont think i could sell it........if i did sell it i would want to replace it with something else and i doubt i could find another in as good condition (within my price range)
i will get some pics up on the next sunny day we have (she is a garage queen - she doesnt like clouds or the cold -lol)
but now you guys have got me thinking ..........
what would you guys think the car was worth? like i said it is a 88 924s white w/dark brown int. it really doesnt have any options - pwr windows , air , thats pretty much it..... no sunroof no dash cracks or faded carpet or anything (always garaged and when it was taken to work it got covered in the parking lot)
she has 37k on the clock all the maint stuff has always been done at the right time intervals even tho it never had enough miles on it....just did all the front of motor stuff AGAIN because its been 4 years (but only 10k miles lol )
i know ive seen these cars sell for cheep sometime but deep down i always wondered what mine was worth?
i will try and get some pics up tommorrow afternoon

(this thread started about my gas gauge and TOTALLY took a weird turn - lol)

Quick Paul,

Make him an offer ! ! !

That has got to be the nicest 924S I have seen in years. Imagine that, unfaded carpeting, an uncracked dashboard, and the driver's seat seams are not split ! ! !

Even better than mine.

I would guess that car is worth a minimum of 8K to 10K, if it looks as nice in person as it does in the photos.

Ah, but you forgot the vibrating gas gauge needle. It's a sure sign of imminent catastrophic engine failure. You better sell; quick!

I'll give you $500, since I'll have to replace the entire drive train.

I would go to $600 because the steering wheel is on the wrong side

I don't know - those specks of dust sitting under the speedo might be a sign of mis-treatment and abuse... I wouldn't go a dime over $700.

(Dude - get that car out of the sun! You know how fast that dash could start cracking!)

Just kidding around - beautiful car! Wow!
