He very well might have been doing 180 in a 90, that is double the speed limit which from what I understand shifts the violation from a highway traffic act issue to a criminal issue. Very serious. |
ok can't help but respond to this thread.
I don't look at my speed on the speedo because it's way off. I have a GPS and it should only be off by 1-2 percent. My speedo actually shows 20km/h too high when at higher speeds so when I'm doing 120 according to the GPS the speedo will show like 140km/h.
and I was tempted to speed because it was 12 am at night and there was not really traffic on the freeway and zero cars on the left late. I'm pretty sure the cop did not actually get my on radar and that's why he gave me the minimum amount, he wasn't being nice.
when I got close to the cop and drove next to him I was going 98km/h on my gps but he probably saw me in his mirror slowing down, you can tell a car is slowing down obviously when the nose points down.
This was Richmond RCMP on highway 91 that caught me. It's funny as I'll be working most likely with the Richmond RCMP in September as field work for my degree so I might see the two cops that gave me the ticktets lol. _________________ 78 924 sold.

You may think it's funny now, but if you get a criminal record you can kiss goodbye any career in law enforcement. _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)

OK, I have to respond, but only because Timmy quoted me.

This actually makes sense to me. I only rob convenience stores on stat holidays because it doesn't count on those days. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

Quit using your GPS, use your speedo and drive what it says your doing, then maybe you'll get in less trouble.

If he didn't get you on radar, he wouldn't be able to ticket you. They can't give out tickets on suspicion of speeding. He got you on radar, or if he didn't, his paperwork will say he did. And it will be trusted over your word in court.

Uh, you are aware that radar doesn't catch people who are beside cruisers right? .... They tag you when your in front of the cruiser. If he hadn't gotten you on radar, he would have only been able to give you a warning, he gave you a smaller ticket to be -nice- to you.

I'm sure they will find your hideous driving record just hilarious.

Just an observation -- if you were using a GPS right before you got a ticket, couldn't you save the data that could prove you weren't speeding? _________________ 1977.5 924 "Martini" head / New Old Stock rebuild

If that were the case it would prove he WAS speeding. And he was..so whats to fight. Maybe the cop didn't have a radar on him, but the fact is the cop was in the slow lane and Timstar PASSED him. It's not rocket science to see that Tim was going faster then the speed limit.
It sucks when you get nailed for speeding...but if you do it time after time...you have to smarten up sometime....or maybe NOT. _________________ 1976 924

| Quote: | | The thing that Dan has pointed out about the 401, the way it is now is that if you are doing 50 kmph or more over the speed limit which is 100kmph, they instantly impound your vehicle, suspend your license for 7 days, and you have a ton of fines. upto and over $10k once all is said and done. |
I'm in Ontario now. The law is for all over the province. so if you are 50 kph over the limit in a parking lot it's the same consequence.
It's a great idea. |
