Ok - I saw a photo of Chrenan's nice neat garage, and had a fit of jealousy.

My garage is a mess and I am determined to get it organized, but with 3 kids, 5 cars, and 5 acres to care for, I can't imagine getting everything neatly organized into a 2-car garage and a 12 x 20 shed.

About some photos to inspire me? The good, the bad, and the ugly would be appreciated!

Thanks,
BC

Here's a re-run of the picture for reference. Keep in mind I have no kids, only 4 cars, and only a city sized lot to care for, so I have more free time...

Believe me, you don't want to see a photo of my garage.

Picture Beirut on a bad day.

Chrenan, not fair! I only have a $hitty little space heater! And you definitely need some more clutter in there so you can be like the rest of us!

Hey, there's clutter! Look at that high shelf, that has most of the intake tract from the 951 on it! Plus hiding behind the 951 there is a spare 924 engine on a stand. Tons of clutter.

You're hardly using that garage, Chrenan... if I could post the pics of my garage... oh, wait, I'm pretty sure I should have some...

Blase, if you can't make a 2-car and a shed work, you're not trying!!

A little blurry, but starts to get the idea across of how crowded the place is... this is only one wall of storage...

Me working in the back corner by the compressor and toolbox...

2 924's just fit in there...

An engine on a stand is not clutter.

An engine in pieces in a dozen boxes, on the floor, on shelves, in the kitchen. That's clutter! (but with out the boxes! )

Vaughn, that engine's going into that car the wrong way around! Just thought you ought to know where you went wrong, Dude.

The single garage I had until recently was slightly more cluttered, mostly due to space constraints. I do find I can keep things fairly organized by cleaning up all my tools and parts at the end of a day, and then writing a list of what I need to do the next time I'm in the garage working. That way things stay neat and I can hit the ground running, I rarely finish a project in one day, most of my work is spread out over the winter so I'm often starting and stopping jobs multiple times.

Hah. The first thing I enjoyed about having a garage was the distinct pleasure at NOT having to finish each job and clean up afterwards everytime I work on the car!! Working in driveways and on the street SUCKS!!

Backwards, huh? Maybe that's why the car keeps trying to swap ends...
