My 924 is the opposite, it reads more fuel than is present. Upto now I have taken the sender out and cleaned it all up and added some ZX-1 to the fuel to try to ensure all parts move freely. It seems to have had an effect but isn't 100% yet. The float on the sender did appear to move freely enough.

I just cleaned my fuel sender...nothing...took apart the gauge, cleaned it with sandpaper, and gave it a nice spray or two of Electral contact cleaner, and perfect results! Thanks for posting this, it helped lots!!!

Cleaning and tightening the contacts at the tank didn't help. so I gave it the "little kid sneaking a peak at christmas gifts" treatment and gave it a good shaking and that worked

if you open the bottom of the sending unit to lean it a warning. Don't fool with the thin wires. They stretch. If you open it pour cleaner in it and drain.
Unless you want to spend the money for a new one.

Thanks Rich, I've been wanting to get to this annoyance for a while now. Cleaned the contacts at the tank gauge, wasn't getting anything on Saturday, but when I fired her up Sunday presto, it was correctly telling me to get gas, and now consequently reads full. Guess the car needed a night to think about it.
